Re: What is the ultimate 1/2oz Jig combo?

Cal, you would pick the Braillist over the FMJ? The FMJ is a moving bait stick where the Braillist is for vertical bait presentations. In my hands, the FMJ is purely a jig and worm rod, and a fantastic one at that. Aye... i got the FMJ mixed up with the EMTF... darn initials.  ... I thou...

Re: Best Jig Rod for $200

Welcome =D> Check with the Tackle Trap, they may have a MB XX rod available. They were on sale. The best jig rod is the one you feel comfy with. Thanks! At $199 shipped, the first generation Megabass XX F6.5-70XX Jig and Worm is a great buy and one of the best jig rods at that price point. The Zodi...

Re: What is the ultimate 1/2oz Jig combo?

Hmmm... i'll try to play... Either that or the new Orochi XX Braillist ... that's a good candidate too. Cal, you would pick the Braillist over the FMJ? Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I have the Bantam MGL on a couple of my Conquest rods and really like how it feels and fishes. I think it's the finest casting reel Shimano has built since the Chronarch D. How about Concept C with the Conquest Rod??? Have you tried it before???. how small the Bantam MGL to Concept C???. WW My reel...

Re: New combo- carbon head Hien

Given the feedback on the Hien, it seems I am going to have some issues deciding what to do with it. FC kind of rules out topwater. G Wood - thoughts? Beautiful combo! =D> I know you'll enjoy the Hein with a little more time on it. It's very, very versatile. I use mine for everything from top...

Re: Observations of Conquest 904c vs. NRX894c

I found d the 904 more powerful than 894. I agree. Once the rod is loaded up, the Conquest has more power, it just loads further into the blank. With regard to sensitivity, I don't find the difference between the 894 and 904 to be as wide a gap as the OP. Yes, the NRX is a bit more crisp, but I don...

Re: Megabass Flipping ??

The Aklys is a unique rod. I haven't fished it yet as the mat punching bite isn't up and running. When I first picked it up I was surprised by the overall weight - 10.1 oz. however, when I mounted a reel, the concept of the rod made sense. It is a truly neutrally balanced rod that feels absolutely i...

Re: Compile-X baitcaster

should I take a chance and use my Compile-X rod to frog fish? Jeff Are you talking about the 71H? If so, give it a shot because it's not the greatest bottom contact rod at it's price point. I've been fishing the new AGS Steez rods lately and as much as I like the look of the Compile-X, the AGS rods...
