Re: Winter Jerkbait Fishing

Just caught some smallmouths in 35degree water on pointers.
Make sure you are in an area where bass are and put the lure in front of their nose and leave it there. You will get bit. The less you work it the better.

Re: Why not kistler?

I bought a Kistler Helium LTA years ago when TT did the review of them. I am not hard on my equipment yet broke 2 of the rods with little use. The rods were replaced via the warranty but heck I was dropping so much on the replacements that after the second rod broke I sold the replacement with the t...

Re: What is your preference in jigheads for tubes?

2/0 or 3/0 90 degree bend 570 eagle claws. I use football heads so they get snagged less. Just need to lube the head before you slide it in.

Re: What's the best handpour fluke?

Ghostbaits, Case, and River Rock are not handpoured. They are all injection molds, but are custom because they are from smaller company's and provide better customer service because they actually open the mold and cut the sprue prior and inspect prior to shipping.

Re: BEST Ice-Out soft plastic?

Caught seven smallies and 20# carp yesterday fishing soft plastics slow on the bottom. Key is finding the fish and fish slow. we had two doubles so when we found a group we got the active ones. You don't want a bait that has a lot of action. Most bass are feeding are daybreak and in teh evening afte...

Re: LC Pointers

Depending on teh time of year different sizes will out perform each other. The 78 will work better in teh spring and 100 in teh fall. I don't have any of the slender 95's so i can't comment. I always did well enough with the other two.

Re: Hand poured plastics

I pour and inject my own soft plastics and the devil is in the details. How much action do you want in the bait? I can do craw lures and put saly in them. Without the salt the claws will give you more action if you are deadsticking it on the bottom. If as stated you are throwing a weightless plastic...

Re: Who fish the lucky craft rcwk?

I custom paint some of my baits so I always have extra eyes lying around. I put em on with a lil epoxy I use to seal my paint jobs. I have also lost eyes on my lucky crafts. I also reseal my American Shad colors with a quick did in clear super gloss polyurethane. Sounds weird but it dries clear enou...

3" and 4" Kalins, 2 3/4" craw papi's, and 3" yum dingers depending on what they are feeding on that week. I hardly ever throw a tube anymore.

Re: What color Senko should I use?

What color do you usually throw with success? That should work here also. Confidence is 1st and foremost then comes presentation, then color. People above gave many good suggestions. Green Pumpkin or Watermelon are pretty much standards anywhere in the country. Junebug is another good color for stai...
