Re: Steez SV TW castability compared to Tat SV TW

hmmm... I own a steez sv tw, and a tat sv tw. One day I put them both on the same rod , both were spooled with the same line and I casted the same bait on dry land (sidewalk for ease of measurement. For $300 more the steez got me 10-12' more distance over 145-160' Is it worth it to me? Yes, but not...

Re: Light and Tough? It Does EXIST and It's Made by Daiwa

Cal, Can you please specify your thoughts? I've always been a proponent of larger/wider spools on spinning reels for better line management. With a wider spool, the coils on your fishing line aren't as small, so there's less issues with line memory. Daiwa and Shimano usually offer a model with a 30...

Re: Light and Tough? It Does EXIST and It's Made by Daiwa

Cal, Can you please specify your thoughts? There are other design features I didn't go into much detail about like the smaller diameter spools for less friction on casts equating to better casting distances Actually, Daiwa Pro Brent Ehrler uses bigger diameter spools explaining that helps him to gai...

Re: Steez SV TW castability compared to Tat SV TW

Never owned Tatula TW SV, because I usually spend more money on a reel. However, I really like my Zillion TW SV, having also Steez TW SV, and Steez SV limited, I think the distance is on par with all of three reels with stock SV spools. Right now, rather than spend ~500 on a Steez TW SV, I would go ...

Re: On a Monster Mission: Fishing for Giant Snakehead

How are they different to a bowfin? I caught a lot of bowfin in South Georgia, my PB so far is ~7lb.

Re: Floro on SV spools v.s. conventional

What is the point to fill the spool completely full on bait casting tackle?
I do it on spinning reels obviously, but all my bc reels have 66 or 75 yards line on on them, and they are usually 2/3 filled of full capacity.
Haven’t noticed any distance been sacrificed that way.

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?

There are so many factors with braid. The suppleness of the material, whether of not it's coated, the weave style, the number of strands, and the diameter all come into play. X8 is in the middle of the pack and X4 is among the last of the bunch for casting distance among the braids that I have trie...

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?

I don't notice any difference. 10% is massive distance....I don't think that would be due to he weave count..There are plenty of 4 strand braids that out cast 8.....and then there's the whole package rated break strength vs ABS. Some braids seem to shoot better I'm talking about high-end Japanese x...

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?

Best bet if you haven't already... Clean the bearings and use a thinner oil or tungsten disulfide. Go to a lighter braid. 10lb instead of 30 or 40 and use a pr or fg knot to a leader which should get you in the 20 lb break rating and in some cases higher. Also try learning different casting techniq...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

For somebody who fished CNQ 842c and CNQ 843c, how would you estimate real lure test for both rods? 843c official test 7-21 g 842c 7-18 g is it really just 3g difference in lure weight separates both? 842 is best with lures in the 1/4-1/2oz range and the 843 best with 3/8-3/4oz. Have gone above and...

Re: Long distance spool for sv103

Anyone done a comparison on the ZPI Pg vs the SLP g1 SV 1012 or 1016? I compared ZPI NRC M and stock Steez G1 1016 SV spool. ZPI casts really great! Brakes wise, with SV spool I could use it on 6-7 on MAG dial, with ZPI had to go up to 11-12 using same baits. Line -14lb Sunline Sniper ZPI obviously...
