It is possible that the Stren I perchased was old but it came from BPS. I think I'll defintely look into some of the lines suggested. I really like the thin lines for casting light tackle...further casts, less drag, more senstive..but it's no more Magnathin for me.

Becuase I do mostly shore fishing or fishing from a small pond boat, I perfer to use the plano trays in a backpack. Easy to carry, lots of storage for tackle and extras, very versatile. that's my $.02.

No, no combo trips. Mostly 4by in southern CA, Imperial Valley Desert...no water out there except for the irrigation canals.
