Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I wish Loomis would add a little "bling" to their rods. I hate the look of the little cork fore grip. I've always loved their blanks, just not their look.........of course it hasn't exactly stopped me from buying their rods, but I might have a few more if they looked better! :D And they m...

Re: First look at new Megabass Orochi XX rods

I talked with Kenichi for a long time this past Saturday at the Classic expo. Really neat guy. He did talk up the Brailist quite a bit, along with the Destroyer Addermine that I would not put down!!!! We also discussed the new C40 and the Diablo that I have on order from that line. He was pretty imp...

Re: My first Megabass

Beautiful!! Is the Addermine fast and powerful enough for a dedicated shakey head rod? I would say it depends on the amount of weight you use for shakey head, up to 1/4oz plus plastic I would say yes. I use mine for Dropshoting and small jerkabaits for river trout. My 852 NRX is what I use most for...

Re: New Loomis GLX rods creak when you shake them?

I have brand new MBR844 GLX . I hear the exact same "creaking" sound when I do the flex test on the carpet. I thought it was weird also. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet, hope it goes away.

Is that an Ultima? I just got my first Glorious. After only a couple of times out with it I am very impressed. I've always wanted an Ultima, they just seem hard to acquire.

Re: What rods do you thinks we'll see debut at the Classic?

I haven't been to the Classic in years. I remember there was various stuff set up in the past, but it sounds like now all of the actual vendors are set up like a trade show. Is this the case? Should I leave my wallet at home???

Re: Megabass Orochi XX... What’s next for the USDM??

We can argue over appearance, but bottom line going to be how they perform. I don't think MB is going to take a step backwards in performance with an updated line of rods. At minimum, there is upgraded cork, upgraded guides, supposedly lighter and better balanced......while maintaining the same pric...

Re: Chatterbait rod

I would think the Javelin would make a fine chatterbait rod, among other techniques. Possibly the Daemos if you want something slightly faster.

Re: Reel seat & handle removal - risk to blank??

Sure there is a risk. Especially with reel seats that fit snugly against the rod blank. Like a Fuji ECS. A good experienced builder shouldn't have trouble though. Damage to the paint on painted blanks is going to happen. Reel seats don't come off cleanly. Really, any epoxy on paint is going to leav...

Reel seat & handle removal - risk to blank??

Hey guys, I know very little about custom rod making, so I apologize if this is a dumb question!!! Is there risk to damaging a blank when removing the foregrip, reel seat, and handle off an existing rod? (I'm not talking about doing it myself, but having a custom rod builder do it). I'm considering ...
