Re: Protecting Lower unit
I haven't yet. I have read about some using carpeting. I am going to try some mover's plastic wrap that should be easy to put on and take off and shouldn't interfere with the TS. Thanks.

Protecting Lower unit
I have a new boat with a Yami 150. I have decided to use a transom saver for my long drives. The downside is taking paint off the lower unit.
Anyone have any tips for protecting the lower unit while towing?

Kistler LTA 6'3" APC
I was walking through Cabelas last night and was casually picking up different rods. I pick up a Kistler LTA he63APC and noticed that it was marked down from $229 to $159.....I do not know why. They had an identical rod on the shelf for $229. One of the guys in the dept asks me if I need help and no...

Fenwick S Glass Fenglass rod
I was walking through a local tackle shop tonight and found a Fenwick S Glass 7' rod. What shocked me was the description on the blank: "for store demonstration only".
It seemed like a very soft rod. I don't think Fenwick is making S glass rods anymore. Anyone ever fished with a fenglass S glass?

Boat Insurance
I need boat insurance. Anyone have specific companies that they have good experiences with? I want someone that actually pays on their claims not just good at collecting my premiums. So far Progressive is cheaper than my local agent but I have never dealt with them to know if they stand behind their...

Re: Radio in fishing boat
Where did you mount your antenna? I have a bimini top and I couldn't come up with a good place for the antenna that wouldn't be in the way, so I thought I would try a handheld. I may end up going with a fixed at some point.

Re: Radio in fishing boat
After some research, I went with a Icom handheld, 6 watt, which should work for the lakes I will be on. Cabelas has them on sale right now.

Radio in fishing boat
I have been thinking about putting a radio in my new boat. I have kids that will be using the boat a lot the next few years and I thought it might help if someone got hurt or if I got in trouble.
What type of radios are you putting on your fishing boats? Are you using a handheld or installing?

Old vs New Graphite rods
I have an old Quantum Graphite 6'6" MM rod that is about 15 yrs old and was made in the USA. There is no additional info on the rod. Were the old graphite rods made different than todays? Could this rod be a blend of glass and graphite? I am assuming that todays rods are stronger. I like the rod but...

Can anyone tell me how they compare? Both are around the same price but I have not seen either model. Any information would be app...

Thanks for the heads up. Cabelas is great about returns, so if I have a problem, I will get my money back and move on.

Re: All Purpose rods
Questor, I understand what you are saying. Actually, we already have mostly lower priced stuff. I have an eagle claw rod that I got when I was 12 and still fish with it. I just wanted to give them some better stuff that will hold up and last from some hard fishing......I understand that I am spoilin...

All Purpose rods
I am getting my 2 teenage sons new baitcasting outfits. I am planning on getting them St. Croix rods, probably Avids. I think they are great rods and should last them a long time. They will be fishing mostly lakes and most of that will be on a clear water lake(Table Rock). What length rods would you...
