Re: looking to get baitcasters (not too expensive though)
Abu Garcia 4600 C4 or 5600 C4WS. For $80, and a $15 rebate per reel, you're looking at the best $65 reel money can buy...they're timeless, tough as hell, and are just a GREAT all around do it all reel. I have Shimano Calcutta's, Curados, Citicas, and other reels that cost more money, but to tell the...

Abu Garcia Rocket 5600 questions.
I have a Garcia 5500C3 and C4WS...and love them. I am looking at a mint condition 5600 "rocket"...it's a gorgeous color and a nice looking reel, but I have never 'heard' of the rocket other than it's something special. What is the 'deal' with the Rocket as compared to other Garcia 5500 series reels?...

Re: Best knot for floro to braid.
Uni to uni as shown in the pamphlet that comes in the box of power pro.
The only thing that's a bit of a PITA is that when tying larger diameter Flouro...the knot will 'tick' the eyes...I have never had a knot failure from it, but it's a bit of a nuisance..that's all.

Re: 6 lb 7 oz Speckled Trout from my KAYAK!
Nice fish and on a topwater  must have been a blast :P I have yet to land a big trout out of the yak but it will come soon, I hope :| You know...that big speck had the 'least exciting' topwater strike I have ever seen...the lure just sort of disappeared, and when I set the hook, the fun star...

Re: crankbaits with braid
there is no stretch like mono, and your more likely to rip the hooks out of the fishes mouth. Man, I fish 10/40 and 12/50 Powerpro for Speckled trout down in South Louisiana, and they have notoriously soft mouths...much softer than any bass...and when I set a hook, I am hoping to see nothing but a ...

6 lb 7 oz Speckled Trout from my KAYAK!
I can't believe I didn't get better pictures...but I managed to catch a 6 lb 7 oz. speckled trout yesterday, and DOUBLING the size of my biggest speck ever caught. This badboy was caught using a Heddon Spit'n Image topwater bait that I modified with Red VHM hooks and a VHM red hook wtih tail feather...

Re: Baitcasting Reel Help
Best bang for the buck is a Shimano Citica 200D. I have two of them and have used and abused them. I just got them back from being serviced, and other than the boat rash, they feel like brand new again. If you want to step up, the Shimano Curado is the 'gold standard' for inshore saltwater fishing i...

Re: Kayak rods from Quantum
Do you have the new kayak rods or last years? I know the new ones have the hook keeper in the trigger. The logo on it will look like this if its the new one. It must be an older one then. I really dig their stuff...and love the feel and actions. I thought that they'd be too whippy at first, but MAN...

Re: Kayak rods from Quantum
Like Sir Hacksalot said AR has some really nice kayak rods and they had alot of input from kayakers, of course im going to be a little biased because I am affiliated with them but the numbers have spoken and quantum got it way wrong ;) Hey...if you have ANY input with AR on the kayak rods...they're...

Re: Kayak rods from Quantum
looks to me they were desinged for the inshore guys they are a larger group than us freshwater guys. You know...this Quantum Yak rod was posted on our Cajun Country Forum at Kayakfishingstuff.com, and these are a bunch of die hard, inshore, coastal salt water fishermen, and I can tell you right now...

Quantum "Kayak" rod
All I can say when I saw pictures of that Quantum "Kayak" rod was WTF IS THAT? Do the guys at Zebco/Quantum even fish from a kayak? Do they have a clue? FOAM grips? What happend to cork? That thing looks like something you'd use to catch snapper around rigs or something...not for coastal kayak fishi...

Re: Help in Biloxi..
Come about 45 minutes east, and hit Louisiana's coast. Things are getting ready to heat up...usually after the first full moon in April, the big sow trout move in, and then the reds follow, then it's just crazy until we get two cold fronts in a row. If you do come this way, PM me, and if I am availa...

Re: Imakatsu Javallon knock-off now available in US
I don't fish swim baits...in fact, I don't fish for bass AT ALL. I fish primarily for redfish, specks, etc. in coastal Louisiana...I mean, after all, I have never had a bass spool 200 yards of line off a reel...I have had that happen when chasing reds though...but I digress. If you're looking for le...

Re: berkeley frenzy baits
I use the Frenzy Topwaters and love them. I am also one of those diehard kayak fishermen mentioned earlier. The Frenzy Topwater 'walks the dog' better than any other bait I use, including the Super Spook Jr., Mirrolure He and She dogs and he and She pups. The split rings and hooks are kind of crappy...
