Re: All around spinning rod (NRX v. ST. C LE v MB Add)

Sir the "Ned" has taken on an animal all its own since Ned and I conversed about it near daily before it blew up. Have contributed more than a few pieces to the I-F site. Unfortunately "Ned" doesn't mean much any longer as hook are grossly larger and more lead is involved. I assu...

Re: Loomis Rod Question

Well done sir. Back when the Loomis Shimano Power Pro "Micro Line" system came out In Fishermans Matt Straw did a review of the 791 TSR GLX in their annual Gear Guide. At that time Dave Mercer had some YT videos of that rod online and still may. I got the combo for my wife right off. I wou...

Re: USDM 500-size reels

Good stuff gents. I've got 6 of the 6400 (The Charlie Brewer in me) and half that many of the 791 TSR GLX (had 5 at one time). I fish for big smallies in remote water that resembles a scene from Deliverance here in WV with trout stream clarity. Good thread. Houndfish nice "Ned" mention. He...

Kudos sir. Pig smallies written all over that combo for years to come for sure. =D>

Great taste.

Of little help as I haven't seen them published across the board sir but do know the 902s is 3.6.

Re: Best $500 Spinning rod for bottom contact techniques

Either the NRX 852S JWR or the NRX 872S JWR. Both rods are great, with the 872s giving you a little more "tip". Thanks for the feedback guys. A few people mentioned the 872S will give you more "tip". What exactly is meant by that? Do you mean a stiffer tip or more parabolic tip?...

Either the NRX 852S JWR or the NRX 872S JWR. Both rods are great, with the 872s giving you a little more "tip". Saved me some typing. Many end up with both. I did. Though for paddle tails in the suggested range not dragged but UP the 902 is $. At least for brown bass in my hand. Happy sho...

Re: TackleTour Exclusive: On the Water with the New G.Loomis Conquest Rod Series

Many thanks for the early look. I've been chomping at the bit to get a look at the spin lineup. Lengths, specs, handle etc. I am beyond pleased that an over 7' model is being offered (from a smallie freak). Can't wait to add the new 902s to the existing 852s, 872s, 901s and 902s (multiples in some) ...

Re: Daiwa ICAST 2017 (2018 products)

Not a reel per say but Daiwa is now the rod and reel sponsor of Mark Zona. This disappoints me a bit. I don't generally keep up with who is sponsored by this or that as 99% of it isn't applicable to my smallmouth fishing and there are a great deal of "staffers" that throw things other tha...

Re: Favorite tube

A small company out of Virginia, River Rock Custom Baits, they have the best tubes I ever used. They make a standard and a pro tube, hand dipped and soft, you go through more of them but I never had a fish drop one. The standard is a normal size tube while the pro model is a triple dipped tube, tha...

Re: Daiwa ICAST 2017 (2018 products)

Not a reel per say but Daiwa is now the rod and reel sponsor of Mark Zona. I enjoy watching the Zona show but I could care less about who spongers him or what rods and reels he uses. I learned long ago not to listen to pro anglers on what to buy. If I did I would have 2 rod lockers full of quantums...

Re: First year of team Daiwa?

Not to start an argument, but after a check of both US and foreign Daiwa catalogs, and Bass Pro Shop catalogs, I find the initial appearance of the Team Daiwa reels to be 1990. In that year Daiwa introduced the TD1 Hi and TD2 Hi. The Team Daiwa Bass Fishing Team consisted of George Cochran, Larry N...
