I would suggest a magnet control reel, maybe the $150 Abu Revo SX (the $99 Revo is NOT magnet control) or the $140 Daiwa Advantage 153HST. I think mangetic is best when you are learning. I have used BC for years, and I still like magnets best. Someday, maybe a digital control, as they may get cheape...

Any of the Garmin 76 series are waterproof and FLOAT. That could be useful . . .
