Re: Different Rod Manufactures
For rods, I've got the following: Powell (7) Fenwick (6) St. Croix (1) e21 (2) Wright & McGill (1) In the past, I've had a lot of other rods from other manufacturers like Lamiglas, G.Loomis, BPS, Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma, Major Craft, and others I can't recall. For the most part, I find myself happier ...

Re: Helium3 or Glx?
If you do a search of G.Loomis and Kistler on this board, you'll find plenty of information about both brands. Both seem to have their share of fanboys and detractors. Since Kistler began using NFC blanks, they seem to be slowly rebuilding their brand. I've only fished GLX so I can't offer any feedb...

Re: Anybody make any regretful purchases?
For rods, my most disappointing purchase was a first generation Dobyns 704C. Everyone using them raved about the balance and the unbelievable sensitivity. In my hands, I saw nothing to distinguish them from the any other brand, especially at the price point.

I think I will pass. I am headed the opposite direction: triggerless casting rods.

Re: Short casting rods
I've got a 5'6 Fenwick HMG pistol grip rod that I fish quite a bit. Love fishing topwaters and shallow crankbaits on it. Love how it seems to fit my hand perfectly and feels like an extension of my arm.

2 Tatulas or 1 T3, that is the question
As the title states, I am considering picking up a few reels for spring and can't decide if I want to go Tatula or T3. You can buy Tatulas on Ebay right around $100 with free shipping and TW has the T3 for just under $200. I have a couple of Ballistics but haven't spent much time on the water, not e...

Re: Shipping rods
I have also heard that UPS will fight damage to items claims citing improper packaging. Basically saying it broke because you didn't pack it properly. UPS once fought me on a claim that a rod I had shipped was broken due to improper packaging. The rod was entirely wrapped in bubble wrap with crushe...
