Re: Strike King Hits the TT Jackpot with their 10XD Crank!

Every time I read about XXX-tra deep divers, I am reminded of how ahead of the times Buck Perry was with his spoon-plugging techs.

Nice article, BTW.

Re: Better for crankbaits? Sol or Chronarch 51mg?

My 50mg can make a small crank fly plus it's a favorite among shimano fans so I wouldnt sell it Dude...c'mon, when would you ever choose a "D" over any "S"? :P FWIW, f&f is correct in that the CH50MG is harder to procure than a Sol, however there are plenty of JDM versions i...

Re: Opinions on reels

LPs: Revo Toro line-up/Na-Cl/Beast (what a tacky name :P) Shimano CL 200ASV Curado 300E/300D Otherwise, I would rec at least a 200 sized, or a 300 + sized round reel...the new 15 CQ 300/400 or Daiwa Ryoga Schrapnel (might be overkill however depending on the lure weights you are using) would be supe...

Re: Share your basics for trophy bass fishing.

Many good points here! If I could be given the perfect opportunity each time I chose to 'wet a line', it would be when the barometer was low just before stormy weather. Something magical happens in that brief moment of opportunity - seems like the lake just comes alive. I'm getting pretty excited j...

Re: Spinnerbait Evolution,your timeline

SLM, thanks for bringing up the VPRs...the first hidden head factory spinnerbait I can recall buying off the shelf in the early 2000s. I only ever owned a 1/2 in Chart/White, but caught lots of good sized bass on it. Only thing I didn't like about the design was the inability to run a bigger trailer...

Big Murray Cod and coastal fishing....Z2020/Z200 is my vote from the reels on your list.

Unless you want a round reel option?

Re: cleaning and maintaining spinning reels

What do you guys do for annual spinning reel care? I've finished all my baitcasters and reel cleaning/repair has been pretty addicting for me this winter. I have all shimano 2500 or 3000 size spools. Looked for info on the web but didn't find as much good info like I did for casting reels. Also I h...

Re: The reason for recoils

Hmmm...interested "Down Under Story". FWIW, RECs are also not the best guides for line speed on casts, or passing knots...especially (wet) braid to mono/co-poly/fluoro I suppose if I fished jigs/plastics/tubes and other slack line techs specifically with fluoro, then RECs may be ...

Re: curado d vs. curado i

Not sure of the year but the NEW conquest is the one that I was referring to. I decided to go with The new CQ will be both 2014 and 2015 models. 14 CQs are the 100/200 sizes with standard gear ratios 15 CQs add the 100/200 sizes in HG along with 300/400 Be careful what you order...if you are lookin...

Re: Scott Suggs MLF Mystery Bait?

The bigger versions of this bait made it's legend for stripers and it was adapted for bass in southern impoundments. I have an old article somewhere in Bass Master/IIRC, about how this is still a popular and effective technique that is still used with much success down south. I recall reading an art...

Re: curado d vs. curado i

I have a conquest50 and a gt te Calcutta so I think the 2014 conquest for traps will be ok? May timeline for 15 CQ HG...should be in the 31-32 IPTs for the 100/200. 8-) ...so all the shimano peeps saying X ship makes a monumental difference in retrieve smoothness agree that Daiwa's reels (which hav...

Re: Shimano Core 100?

I owned the Met MG7 within weeks of it becoming available back in 2007...it is a very versatile form factor in both JDM and USDM formats.

Try it, you will likely not be disappointed.

Re: The reason for recoils

The Torzite guides groove. We found that while performing tests in the lab and on the water. I'm pretty sure we will not offer these guides on Shimano or G.Loomis rods. Yes they are light, but the material is not as hard as the SIC or even Alconite. We had high hopes for these guides. It was disapp...
