I say the same thing about getting a "sleigh ride" from a big ol' Texas redfish.BuKuBass wrote:You haven't lived until you've been towed by a smallmouth.

Re: FANTASY: Sunshine Showdown September 13-16, 2007 Lake To
I didn't know you guys did a fantasy deal over here too. That's cool. I'll have to get in on it next year. I run one on another website. We pay five bucks a tourney through paypal and there is a $20 per angler pot for FAOY. I've got FAOY wrapped up. :D What percentage are you guys sitting at? As of ...

Re: What would you fish from a Kayak?
I fish out of the yak almost exclusively down here on the Texas Coast. You've got some great advice so far. I take all casting gear with me. Same stuff I use in the boat really. Where we have an advantage down here on the coast is that kayak fishing and wade fishing are so popular, a lot of the manu...

Galveston, TX Redfish Action...
Decided to give it a shot in the boat this weekend. I needed to get some pictures for an upcoming lure review I'm doing for TackleTour and I figured I knew where a few photogenic redfish were hanging out. A very good friend of mine came in from Dallas and wanted to get out on the water. He's never b...

Re: Rod/reel for kayak fishing for east coast striper and bl
You have lots of good advice here. But I'd like to pass you on to a buddy of mine who is an expert over there. http://www.heritagekayaks.com/coryrouth.htm All of his contact information is towards the bottom of the page. He fishes out of kayaks regularly and has caught some HUGE stripers out of the ...

Some pics, a video, and a re-introduction...
Greetings everybody! While I check the site and the forums everyday, it's been quite a while since I've posted here. I'm actually an administrator on a kayak fishing forum so I stay pretty tied up with that most of the time. With that said, you guys will probably be seeing a whole lot more of me ove...

Re: Sir Hacksalot's 2006 Kayak Fishing in Pictures
Sweet pics Hack! What part of LA are you in? I'm dying to come over there and fish. I know a guy over there that is just constantly CRUSHING the fish. I'll make you a deal, you slide on over here to Texas and I'll put you on fat Texas reds and trout, then I'll mosey on over to LA and we'll beat up o...
Re: Best Fish
I only fish inshore waters and I would have to say redfish and snook.
Personally, I have never caught a snook but I've had too many die-hard redfish guys tell me that once you catch a snook, you'll laugh at a redfish.
Tarpon of course would be way up there too.

If you through a bunch of crankbaits (Rattle traps, Yozuri's, etc.) It let's you burn in the retrieve with a little less effort. Conversely, if you slow jig soft plastics, you have to remember to slow down your retrieve... 2 cents. Holy crap look who made their way over here! ;) I own the Zillion a...

Re: Over fished?
I'm no expert by any means, but it seems that most saltwater fisherman are catch and eat. Eventually that's gonna be a problem if none are thrown back. No, I don't have any evidence to back that statement up, but I've never read about, or even seen a saltwater fish that's been caught and released. ...

Like Sledge posted above... Coastal Kayak Angler. Of course it's centered around yak fishing but these guys know their stuff. Not to mention, most of them own or have owned boats in the past. Lots of guides and dedicated tournament fishermen on there. Plenty of knowledge to go around if you just ask...

Re: Headed to the Chandeleurs!
Trip got cancelled. 9-12 ft. seas over there all week. That probably wouldn't be too much fun in a kayak.

Headed to the Chandeleurs!
Sunday morning I'll be throwing the kayak on the truck and burnin' rubber towards Biloxi, Mississippi. I'm heading out on the Double Trouble with Capt. Troy Fountain of Chandeleur Charters . This will be my second trip with Troy and I'm stoked. :D We'll be doing a photo shoot for an upcoming article...

Re: Another report -- Galveston Surf 8.23.06
No problem Corey. Glad I could help. They just redesigned the Ride and made it much better with a lot more fishing related features. The old Ride was actually designed with divers in mind.
