Re: Buying tackle
I'll usually buy my tackle at Walmart first because they have the best prices around my area. Then I'll hit a couple of local stores to try and find what I need. If I can't find it anywhere, I'll order from Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, or other internet tackle shops.

Re: Your goto lure
I don't fish for bass but for trout I like the berkley micro tubes (mini jigs). My goto colors are white or green/yellow. Saltwater I'll either thow an Iron or fish plastics (Fish Traps or Big Hammer).
Re: Hooks
For trout - I use Mustad hooks or VMC if I know I'm gonna lose a lot of them.
Saltwater - Owner or Gamakatsu hooks. They tend to rust a little slower than other brands.
I'm also curious about the Matzuo brand. Anyone use these hooks?

Re: Scents...
I think they work. I use them for trout fishing. Kickntrout seems to work the best for me, crave gravy works pretty good as well.

Re: Catfish
Now that is a million dollar question... wish I knew the answer. The spots I know where to fish for cats I've found through trial and error... no distinct pattern that I can see. My last time out I did notice that the cats were hanging around a spot where they could wait for the current to bring foo...

Re: Catfish
I usually buy a whole frozen mackeral and cut strips of it out (enough to cover a size 4 or 1 hook) and dip it in hog wild. I don't normally use real heavy gear for catfish, I usually use 6lb test. The cats I normally catch are in the 4lb range. I see some people using real heavy line and whole mack...

Re: 2 lb test fishing line for trout
I've used 2lb p-line and it was pretty strong, the only drawback that I've found was that it was one of the thicker diameter lines I've used. Cuda 2lb test is also really strong (my tests broke at 5lb), it too is a little thicker becuase it's florocarbon coated but the price can't be beat. 2lb Izorl...

Re: 2 lb test fishing line for trout
How do you like the maxima perfexion? How's the memory and strength? I use a older model Diawa Emblem-S 1500 series for 2lb test.

Re: New Review: Daiwa Saltiga Conventional
Hi Zander,
I was just curious, how would you rate the Saltiga against the smaller albacore series pro gear reels like the PG280?

2 lb test fishing line for trout
Question for all of you ultralight trout fisherman out there. What 2lb test line do you use and why? Personally, I'm using 2lb Izor Platnium and it's pretty strong for 2lb... my home tests says it breaks around 4lb. Just wondering what everyone else uses, thinking about trying something new.

Re: Best Tackle Bag to buy?
My father and I used to take the plano boxes and put them into a regular backpacks before the new "tackle backpack" designs came out. I was the first one to bite the bullet and pick up tje loomis backpack from Cabelas the first time I saw it in their catalog. The Albakore bag wasn't on the market at...

Re: Best Tackle Bag to buy?
Personally, I use a gloomis backpack for freshwater (trout) which works out well for me. The only drawback I can see with this tackle backpack is that when you pull out a plano tray and have heavy stuff in the top portion, the bag starts to collapse. The albakore bag has a frame built into it which ...
