What To Do With My Reels?
Loooong time since I've posted here... I took a long break from fishing outside of small lakes and ponds. I've basically relied on the same two, or three combos, since everything was small water. I'm tired of my stuff collecting dust, so I want to start fishing larger waters from a boat. The problem...

Re: Brass and aluminum together
Hard aluminum is still softer than brass. You'd be more likely to damage the aluminum gear. People install brass gears in place of aluminum sometimes for the added smoothness and durability. What about the oxide layer on the aluminum? Provided it isn't in a state of wear, that oxide layer should be...

Re: Militant Feminists Stage Anti-Fishing Rally
That's redundant!
On a serious note, my last weekend was cancelled, and every body of water (and my yard) has been blown-out by a deluge of rain. Otherwise, a lot of the bass are still on beds here.

Re: MB Namazeal
I had no idea there was a topwater catfish game  I actually catch topwater cats on accident every year. Usually, it occurs early in the morning, when I am fishing near creeks, and coves. It seems to be right around what would probably be pre-spawn for the cats. You'll just see cats cruising ...

And as of a few weeks ago...I am reconsidering ,my paypal useage altogether...they will not allow you to pay for any purchase on line for ammunition. I agree 110%. For those of you who don't know, Paypal supports anti-gun lobbyists on Capitol Hill to the tune of millions of dollars each year. That'...

That is designed to be a jigging reel for squid and cuttlefish.Afrayedknot wrote:What in the heck kind of spool is that in the second to last pic? Looks kinda like that one ardent flipping reel's spool. Either that, or I am seeing it wrong.
Those pics got me excited, but just a little.

Re: Are single or double buzzbaits better at night
For me, the double-prop buzzbaits tend to track better, rise a little quicker, and can't roll. The drawback is that they have higher wind-resistance, and thus don't cast quite as well. I don't know if they are any better, or any worse at night, but I have used them successfully. The fact that I can ...

Re: Poppers at night
Sounds like other topwater baits are preferred over poppers at night. Johnny A, Could you say a bit more about "depending on the moon phase and windiness" for using poppers at night. Thanks. I'm just a weekend angler (if I'm lucky), so I can't speak for a tournament angler like Johnny A. However, I...

Re: Poppers at night
I have caught a few on Storm Chug Bugs at night. I haven't done a lot of popper fishing at night, but they worked okay. They are also cheap, so I wouldn't have minded losing them vs. a twenty-dollar( or more) popper.

Peacock on that gear must be a lot of fun. I'd love to try it some day. For now I am stuck in the tundra.

Not to sound like a smart-ass, but do you mean "progeny"?dragon1 wrote:Ahhh, finally, the true CU B/D prodigy has come to us....
I haven't fished either of those models, but I am still intrigued by this reel as a multitasking workhorse.
