Re: Pflueger President LP (Circa 2004)
I still have one, a righty, even though most of my reels are lefties. It's a great reel, so smooth for it's price point. Tim Horton used to use it as his cranking reel. I also remember Ott Defoe using Pflueger reels when they went OEM style and were almost identical to Revos and BPS reels. They were...
Re: Diawa Sol
I have 3 of them. This should tell you what I think of them...great reels! They do have a geary feeling if not lubed regularly, but it doesn't bother me. Lightly oil the inductor assembly because one of mine got stuck once. If you can find a purple Alphas in good condition, get one of those also! Ba...

Re: Boca bearing experience...
I have several pairs of each and I see no noticable differences in performance. I will buy the lightnings from now on. Do you really need new bearings? I find that if I degrease and re lube a Shimano ar-b with rem oil or ardent oil (their only good product lol), it will equal any hybrid ceramics I'v...

Re: Revo Premier Generation 2 Question
That's a great price! MSRP was $279 back in 2010(?). I still have 2 of them. Very similar to the 2014(?) blue Pflueger Patriarch. Just be mindful of the easily tarnished metallic surfaces.

Re: Gear grease opinions
I used to use superlube, but I found that it doesn't stick well enough. Switched to syl-glyde brake caliper grease which works better. Lately, I have been using 140wt gear oil and have been very pleased. Gotta apply it light or it will seep onto the drag washers.

Scorpion MGL HG! Yes, it's a curado, but it looks better and has that JDM cool factor! Got mine for $188 on eBay.

Re: Curado 200e7 or sv103
How do you like the scorpion? Those are some of my favorite reels! I have a core 51mg, and several curado 51e/scorp 1001xt/aldebaran mg's. Casting machines and so easy to work on. I just hate the outdated spring design under the cast control knob on the curados/scorps. I'm glad nobody uses them nowa...

Without knobs/bearings-$85 With knobs/bearing-$110 Some of these same versions are still floating around in shops at retail price. It came with septon knobs and bearings. I only paid $112 shipped, so it's like I bought a handle and they included a free reel lol! Thanks! I guess I did get a great de...

ZPI baitcaster handle
Hi folks. I recently bought an '07 metanium mg7 off eBay. I got a great deal on it and it even came with a ZPI carbon handle! Here it is on one of my favorite reels, a core 101mg. Does anyone know how much these handles were when new? I feel like I lucked out on this reel purchase! Thanks. 20200602_...

Re: Curado noise on retrieve
I can't stand how they over- grease reels at the factory. I break down and re-lube my reels to my liking before ever fishing them! The dumbest thing is greasing the bushings or bearings in the knobs!

Cumara 6'8" mhf. So nice and crisp.
Antares AR (Calais 100a). Best reel I have ever used.

Re: Favorite Aldebaran Model
I love the '09 model. I have 3 of them as well as a Core 51mg. I also have a '15 model, but it is lacking something, although I can't pinpoint what. I just know I reach for the older one first, every time.

Never get rid of the E7! It is a timeless classic which can still be sold for its original msrp today! Easy to teardown and maintain too. Flush and relube the bearings with tsi or ardent oil and it will outcast 90% of all reels, including the current models.
