Re: Nrx 852c leader knot

I can tie an FG reasonably well in my living room... sometimes lol. Out on the water - no chance. I am just a ham fisted fool. I really don't use spinning enough/tie the knot enough - if I did it more often it might become easier. But basically I will tie it at home prior and if I have have to retie...

Re: Nrx 893

I tend to think of the 853c/893c as finesse jig/senko type rods... the 873crr picks up the 3/8+trailer nicely as it's really more like a 4 power, and the 894c for 1/2. The 893/873/894 is a great bottom bait trio. I also use the 854c for skipping jigs around docks and under trees, etc. I recently pic...

Re: Lubing Hedgehog ZR bearings

I want to say my HH's were pre-oiled, but I can't say for sure 100%. It might have been the ZPI's...but double check, as too much oil can slow them down.

Re: Dobyns Xtasy 754 Impressions

Nice review, thanks. I was very curious on the Xtasy line, as I had been a Dobyns homer for some time - All XP's and DX/HP's in my rod lineup. But I just couldn't get over the Xtasy pricing for a China blank. I decided for that kind of money I might as well give the NRX a try. Wound up with 6 NRX's...

Re: Ordering from Japan sites ?

I typically get reel purchases from Japan sellers/shop faster than I would say a ground shipment from TW.... pre covid. You;ll have no issues with ordering from the reputable shops

Re: Show off your OG Zillion

Kinda pedestrian on the exterior, all the upgrades are internal - 8.1 Gear Set, Hi-Speed Levelwind, ZPI Bearings, Carbontex Drag of course. It's got a few miles on it but still solid as ever. Running the stock spool but have some spacers on the way so I can try some 34mm spools now. Sits on my 916C ...

Re: Spool choice for Zilion Type R/916C (34mm)

The RCS 1016 spool I have is a long casting beast for me. I personally use an sv spool for frogging though as I skip a bunch. Currently using a sv103 spool in a tdz for that. I also just got some spacers for my Zillion 50th, but that one got a Steez LTD 105 spool for fishing jigs and Texas rigs. Va...

Spool choice for Zilion Type R/916C (34mm)

So, I finally have some 36>34mm spacers coming, and am looking at maybe changing from the stock ZIllion Type R spool to something else on my 916C. It's mainly a punching/flipping rod and Frog rod, and to be honest the stock spool does fine for the most part, although wouldn't mind some extra distanc...

my backorder shipped today it looks like, so they appear to be running about two weeks behind on these, once they are in stock.

Re: Nrx 853c?

I have one and have struggled to find a niche for it - I always have the 893/894 rigged so the 853 is kinda in limbo. Oddly enough, there's a review on YT where the guy was disapointed in it's peformance as a jig rod but found it excelled as a spinnerbait rod. Kinday spendy to dedicate it to a spinn...

Re: If you had a painter willing to paint one TD-Z

painting magnesium is a different animal than painting a normal reel. Prep is the key and there are not too many folks that do it well, unfortunately. Make sure your guy understands the nuances of preping/acid/alkaline/etching/etc magnesium otherise the reel will look like junk in short order. TD-Z'...

Re: Issues with Tackle Warehouse

I just got an email for an backordered item that arrived but had been backordered for over 6 months, they sent email to confirm if I still wanted it which was nice, as I'm sure some folks would not want something that had been back-ordered for that long - ie they may have found it elsewhere, or it m...

Re: TD Zillion spool info

OEM Zillion/Zillion 50th spool will be typically be 21g with OEM bearing, Zillion LTD spool would be 18g. Type R, HLC, and 100M would all be around 16g IIRC, and J-Dream 14g

Re: NRX 895

No matter how much I wanted to like this rod, it is so tip heavy, unbearably so in my hands, It never stayed in my rotation... This and the comments following it are why this is the only NRX I don't own... I have the 916UBR instead - certainly not a lightwieght rod but with the full grip it balance...
