Re: Light and Long Cranking Setup

spinning. Either a Daiwa Tatula 7'6" MLMF, TTU761MLMFS, or a Dobyns DC 792. With a Daiwa Tatula 4000, and 8 lb Izorline XXX copolymer line. The bigger size reel is for less line issues.

Re: Medium light spinning rod.

take a look at the st croix 6'10" mlxf, its not as stiff as the mxf and makes a good all around spinning rod, i have 2 of that model in the legend elite and they are fantastic. or try the Avid X 6'9" MLXF. I own 2, paired with Stradic CI4+3000 reels, and love them! the 6'9" MLXF in the Avid X model...

Re: Shimano Stradic CI4+ FA drag

Glad I found this thread. I was just thinking of ordering some carbontex drag washers for my 2 new Stradic Ci4+ 3000HGFB reels. Think I'll hold off.

Re: Anyone add weight to butt section for better balance?

I add chair tip rubber covers to the rod's butt section that I use for 'tip up" applications such as worming, jigging, etc...for horizontal moving baits, where I retrieve with tip level or down, it is not necessary to have that perfect balance.

Re: Jerkbait rod

When using baitcating, I use a pair of the cheapest priced rods I own! Lol
A pair of 13 Fishing Defy Black 6'7" MH rods. They have a somewhat moderate action, and fish jerkbaits well!

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?

Funny, for as many Shimanos and Daiwas I've owned, I have none! 2 BPS Carbonlite 2.0's 2 BPS Carbonlites (gold models) 2 Lews BB1 Pros 4 Abu Revo Premier Gen 2's So it's a mixture for me, as long as the reel is a dual brake system, or centrifical system. Spinning is all Plueger Supreme MG's or Patri...

I like a #5 treble on most of my cranks. Not too many companies make a #5 though. I use VMC short shank, wide gap VMC 9651's.

Re: Are these Cranking rods similar? (Dobyns & St. Croix)

I've owned both of those models, and the power & action are VERY VERY similiar! I don't own either one now.
If you like one, you'll like the other just as much!
