I'd say the NRX 822 DSR would handle lighter weights before heavier weights. I rarely go lower than 1/4oz plus the actual bait on the great Lakes, and switch to the 872 jwr when fishing heavier weights in deeper water. Are you using straight fluoro? Loomis SBR864 could work for you... It's awesome for 1/2oz-1oz blades and I've tossed dippers on it.

I throw my wacky senkos on a NRX 852S. I am typically throwing them in open water for smallies so there isn't a ton of cover around. I throw them with 10-15lb Power Pro Super slick 8 and a fluoro lead.
