Re: A question for the oldies (Berkley rod ad of the 90's)
I think it is a rod of the end of the 80's or beginning of the 90's.
In those same years Berkley published another ad where they compared the graphite content of various rods, including the Shimano Magnumlite Fightin' Rod (the coolest rods of the time).

This one was Berkley's.
Did not have a clear tip, it was black and chartreuse.

A question for the oldies (Berkley rod ad of the 90's)
Any of you guys remember the name of the (black and chartreuse) Berkley rod that appeared in a Berkley ad as the world's strongest, and the ad said it smashed an Ugly Stik in a tag of war?

Re: Carbon Alloys? Calling for a test.
My answer to tywithay would have been generically that. I.e. despite the fact that carbon alloys can result in very rigid frames, the reality is that none of the"carbon alloys" used for reels are actually as rigid as metal.

scatter wrote:Spectacularly pointless, nobody's making reels from diamond and the composites we're talking about aren't graphite. Thanks.
The guys must have missed the passage where it is stated that "composites" are mainly PLASTIC.
