Re: Bull Shad stock hooks?
Hi Phantasy, I'm the owner of Bull Shad. You are 100% correct the hooks we use aren't Owner and the rings we use are also not owner. I do not mean to misrepresent our products in anyway. I have found over the years that the hook business is very volatile. At the very beginning we did use Owner produ...

Re: Ichiban Minnow reborn???? New Balsa Bull
I have 2 of the Balsa Bulls. I also have a couple of the original Balsa Pro... Here's my take: #1, they aren't an EXACT replica. There are subtle differences in the baits. The belly of the bait is flatter on the original, and the foil is a bit more "clean" on the originals. Both baits weigh the sam...

Yup what Civic said. He's got some he approved and some he's still working on. He just wants to get them right and to his liking. It's just a long process and on top of that he's working on other things

Re: Bull shad vs BBZ 1
Hi Guys, A buddy sent me the link to this post and I want to comment.. To answer some of the questions about my baits I have to tell how I started into the swimbait business. First and foremost I am a fishing guide. Been doing it since I was 14. I'm now 43... I make a lot of my own baits and the Bul...

Re: Dobyns @ ICAST?
Gary and Richard didn't have a booth @ Icast but they were both @ icast walking the show. This year since it was in Orlando he decided to save that extra cash this year and splurge it next year @ Las Vegas Icast. He's always been doing too many things at once and as you saw from the tournament circu...

Re: Help me decide Recon or Champion
i didn't say anything about where they were manufactured. stop trying to use slight of keyboard mr. wizard. all i said was dobyns just buys blanks and builds rods. phenix designs their own actions, tapers, has proprietary components, etc. as mr. vincent borges has masterfully articulated. therefore...

If you don't like the long handle of the 806ML you can get the 806HSB.. Same handle length of the 795ML but on the 806 blank.

The 795ML to me is the perfect A Rig rod. Perfect tip and great for launching A rigs or double up as your swimbait rod.

There was another post about DX blank usage. Nobody but Gary uses the DX blanks. Gary is at Shasta I'm trying to see if I can get him to post here when he can to clarify.

Re: Cranking - glass with braid or graphite with mono/fluoro
I think I love glass more than anyone LOL. I like fluoro with the glass because of the less stretch, visibility, deeper diving aspects of it like Phippy stated. I fish clear water so that helps the cause..
