Re: Deep Cranking reel?

I got a Curado DC for a good price. It is a 7.4:1 but I’m gonna give it a shot. We’ll see. Thanks for the input guys!!

Re: Deep Cranking reel?

They’re actually a lot more different now than they used to be. Still very similar though

Re: Deep Cranking reel?

The Tranx 200 was just delivered yesterday but the boat is in the shop so I can’t really try it out yet. I may go ahead and order the Tatula and keep the one I like best.

Re: High Speed reel for deep cranking?

Just did it yesterday with a Curado K. I don’t hate it. I actually ordered a Shimano Tranx 200 HG. That should do it We’ll see.

High Speed reel for deep cranking?

Anyone use a high speed reel for deep cranks like the 6XD and 10XD? I've been using a 6.3:1 for a couple years with good luck but that reel is worn out and I got a great deal on a Curado 200K in 7.4:1. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet so I have no idea how it will work out. I can't stand the...

Deep Cranking reel?

I'm in the market for a new deep crankbait reel. I'll be throwing nothing smaller than a 6XD and a lot of 10XD sized baits with this setup. No Revos. I just don't like them. And i don't want to spend a ton. I'm looking at a standard Lew's BB1 or a Shimano Curado K. I don't crank with a 5 gear ratio....

Re: Abu Garcia Revo EXD

I just bought one and I’m not impressed. Doesn’t cast any better than my old Quantum Icon. Maybe even worse due to the cheap magnetic brake system they used. Even with the shallow spool and 10lb Invisx you have to turn the brakes up to about 3/4 just to keep it from backlashing. And that affects the...

Re: Quantum Icon PT

I have eight Icons. For the $45-$50 I paid for them brand new in the box I love em. They have been workhorses with zero issues and I don't baby them either.

Re: Daiwa spool tension problem

I have seen numerous Daiwa reels in my shop that have had the spoil shaft actually come unpressed from the spool itself. The spool can’t be centered and the tension no longer works. I can generally recenter the spool in the shaft but that’s just a temporary fix. A new spool is the only sure fix that...

I explain it this way: Mono is like a rubber band and fluorocarbon is like a Stretch Armstrong from back in the day

Re: SVS braking issue

As much as I like the Curado I’m afraid that’s what I’m gonna end up doing. I’m gonna give it another shot though. Awfully nice reel otherwise.

Re: SVS braking issue

The majority of my fishing is either super early morning or at night. Therefore visually it’s tough to know where the dial is. And there are no nibs or anything so I can feel it. I realize that the majority of my issue is pure habit from my Quantums and my Lew’s BB1 Pros and Team Lew’s but I really ...

SVS braking issue

I just got a new Curado K. I love the reel except for one very important part. The brakes. I just can’t get used to them. I’ve been using Quantum’s ACS system and it works great. But I like to use different reels and I really want to keep this Curado but I just don’t know if I can ever get used to t...
