With your current line up I'd pick a nrx 842c it will do it all on the lighter side
Thank you! That’s an MBR, right? Hoping that could do the heavier end of my bfs work…

How do you wear out a rod?
If I posted pictures, you’d understand. The loomis techs took one look at it and even though it was intact, they’re like go get a warranty replacement. I think the best word I can describe it with is the rod looked tired.

Re: Compact Spinnerbaits for smallies

I've been throwing Booyah Pond Spinnerbaits for a finesse profile. They're 3/16oz. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Booyah_Pond_Magic_Spinnerbaits_Col_Wil_3_16_oz/descpage-BYPMBB.html Those are baits have been very productive for years for me with a 3” grub or small keitech trailer. Absolutely love ...

Re: It’s 2023 so can we all now agree

if I can find some O-rings that last longer than a few months I'd take Daiwa's version. You can put the point of the hook in the loop or the bend of the hook in the bottom part. Also can just hook a DS weight easily without putting the actual hook on the keeper. I think part of the problem is stori...

New NRX / GLX

Hi everyone… as my old GLX 852C is worn out, I can replace it with a GLX or upgrade to NRX via GLoomis warranty program. Generally speaking, I feel like I have a rod for almost every way I know to fish for bass (tbh my library of techniques isn’t huge), but a) would love to learn more and b) here I ...

Re: Has everyone forgot the Shimano Chronarch is even a thing?

Never a bad word about the ci4+ and MGL here. They were comfortable to fish for me, casted well, handled fish well, and paired up very well with a Shimano cumulus and ALX zolo deputy. That being said, the point about enthusiasts jumping straight to the new met or even aldebaran is well taken. Those ...

Re: Bantam A

Its for cranking power efficiency. I think we just need to let Shimano stick with designing the reels. I vastly prefer the infinity drive cranking power of the new vs old Conquests and I’m sure the same will be true on the Bantam. The new Bantam upgrades look great to me. Ok, last time I try ...

Re: Bantam A

I can see the logic here… under load from casting, when the spool is being pulled in the direction of the line guide, given the tolerances, the shaft may rub against the inside of the pinion rather than make it spin with the bearing consistently throughout the cast cycle. If I’ve read this right, in...

Re: Seriously still no news about new '22 reels?

Looking at the overhead shots, based on width and shape of the nose, I think we’re either looking at a modified curado i frame or an entirely new one as it is narrower than the 200i by some margin and the shape of the nose is notably different. Speculation time - is this a refresh of the SLX platfor...

Re: Seriously still no news about new '22 reels?

Joekaz, on closer inspection I think you’re right… some things don’t seem 100% 200i (seems narrower on overhead view, slightly different nose) but it seems closer to that than the 70, and the sideplates are definitely closer to the curado 200i / scorpion dc. Is it possible this is an attempt to get ...

Re: Seriously still no news about new '22 reels?

The SLX DC XT looks like the 2017 Scorpion 100 DC but with a MGL III spool. I think it’s actually a dc on the curado 70/scorpion 70 frame; I think it’s the first dc on that frame too… they’re getting all kinds of mileage out of that frame. It was released 6 years ago and still derivatives are comin...

Re: Best baitcaster under $170 for beginner

You can easily get a slightly used SLX DC for the price (target $130-$140), might struggle a bit under 4 grams though. Have thrown 4 gram spinnerbaits no problem with it and being a dc, it’s hard to mess up.USDM model is a 150 size spool so fairly versatile for anything smaller than large swimbaits....

Re: Seriously still no news about new '22 reels?

Gahhh hadn’t seen earlier posts. In the absence of a full aldebaran launch I’m gonna speculate that this is not a new frame but rather internal rework, spool and brakes likely, a la 15 alde bfs limited. https://jdmtackleheaven.com/collections/baitcasting-reels/products/shimano-22-aldebaran-bfs-xg-ri...

Hopefully a new Aldebaran. '15 > '18 > '22?
I second this… any ‘22 Alde news is welcome (even if the next alde is ‘23 or ‘24 instead of ‘22).
