Quantum Smoke S3 Inshore - Mine has a flaw - anyone else?
So, I have a Quantum Smoke S3 Inshore 40 (SSM40XPT), and it is a big upgrade from the prior Smoke Inshore spinners. First, the aluminum drive and oscillation gear finally put this into the category of actually being a saltwater reel vs. a freshwater reel. I took it apart and am happy with most every...

Re: Need to find parts for new Reel
Thanks, I'll send it in.
Let the suits know that a sacrificial plastic trim piece should not be designed as a frame component. That seems wasteful.

Need to find parts for new Reel
So, like an idiot, I forgot to go lefty-tighty on my CUDC151HG. Ended up scratching the handle, and dropped and the plastic top cover on the frame (above the level wind) cracked.
I don't know where to get parts to fix this. Can you help?

Re: Storage for plastics
Infuriatingly, all the plastics pouches I have seen for sale have easily rusted eyes and rings. I have taken to using an offshore style bag that has mesh/clear plastic sections. The one I have is like the Plano Z-Series Wrap. They're only $20, and they hold a ton of plastics in a way that's easy to ...

Re: Calais CL200 ARB
Installed the new sideplate, replaced all bearings, and replaced the gears. Smooth as silk - thanks!

Bearing for BNT1507
OK, assuming I get the right tools, I expect that I can get the pin out, but what size bearing sits on the BNT1507?
If you have any notes on the best tool to remove and replace the pin, that would help too.

Re: How many rods?
Depends on the conditions, but I usually take three for the inevitable break off or wind knot issue. I always want to have a backup rod rigged the same as my first rod so that I can quickly go after the fish that are there. I fish for redfish at night near cover in most cases, if they wrap me up, I ...

Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)
Got the lefty 151 HG in the mail today. Neat reel, cannot wait to get it on the water. I've been fishing with spinning reels mostly for the last two years because I like them in the yak. I can't believe how much more natural the left hand retrieve feels. I guess I'm going to have to by five more lef...

Re: I Need Help Choosing a Inshore Reel!
For what you want, a 2500 size spinner is the right size to throw things like soft plastics on 1/8 oz. jigheads. You're not going to get a "sealed" reel of any quality for that price, just learn how to keep your reel dry, rinse off after trips, and open up your reel to maintain it, and you'll be fin...

Re: Calais CL200 ARB
To note, I'm probably going to source a side plate with the newer style ARB carrier and see if that will work. I expect the main drive gear shaft length will not be an issue, but I've already sourced the replacement bearing so, it's a backup if I upgrading the carrier doesn't work. Will have to do s...

Re: Calais CL200 ARB
Here you go. Yep, I have verified in quite a few images that this version of the clutch is common in the Calais 200 series once I got further into it. Then, there's a second version that fits your "normal" Shimano clutches where the bearing carrier is shaped to fit the clutch you're used to. You can...

Re: Calais CL200 ARB
Ok, got the bearing out. It is 12 mm x 10 mm x 14 mm. Found the bearing using markings. It is an NTN HF 1012. It is perfectly cylindrical on the outside and fits in an aluminum carrier in the side plate that itself is perfectly cylindrical and is 14mm in diameter. There is no way that the Shimano be...
