Getting the itch in NJ.....

Hey Guys.... I just moved to Lake Hopatcong in NJ and conditions haven't exactly been ripe for ice fishing. I was thinking about taking the boat out this weekend and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on techniques for fishing in colder weather, I have been a summertime only angler forever ...

Since I was a little kid I have been fishing on the shore of these lakes catching primarily bluegill & perch. this past summer I set my sights on Bass and have had some luck. Greeley lake is basically covered with lillypads and thick with und...

Is that article for real?? This lady has quite the extraordinary family...... A soldier, a biologist and a saint....... Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of Mr. Bush by any means, but this story seems a little too trumped up with a lot of very convenient verbage considering mom's stance with our...

Re: Lube

Hey Connie,

Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely make sure to get the reels serviced after every season. How much would a place charge to do this and why do a majority of places shy away from Pfluegers?

Re: Lube

here's a question, only because I'm kinda new at using better equipment.... I have never once in my fishing life had a real serviced or applied any kind of lube etc... ( I know, it's sacrelidge to say that)... This past season, I have rediscovered the joys of fishing and have made a few purchases fo...

Re: Slug-go's are awesome!!

FishNY, If you are talking about Sluggos.... I usually fish them weightless and the weight of the lure alone allows for some pretty good casts although if there is heavy cover under the water... they can wind up just sitting on top of the weeds. Lunker City sells special weights made specifically fo...

yeah, it is pretty heavy.... but even with only a 6' bed on my truck, we can get it from the house to the lake without a problem...probably going to invest in a trailer next year though

I finally got a boat..... just in time for winter...lol

so, the big debate is finally over and I went to pick up my new boat this past weekend. :D I got the Johnson Outdoors Basstender 11.3 model. Not quite the rig that most of you guys are tooling around with but I think it's perfect for what I need. 8-) Battery compartment, livewell, dry storage, 2 swi...

need some suggestions on technique......

So, I've been using artificial baits almost exclusively lately and have had a lot of luck using senkos, sluggos and zoom flukes. some of the areas I fish are heavily covered with lily pad growth where fishing the plastics gets a little more difficult due to snags etc..... so, it was recommended that...

Re: Is this a good boat???

Hey guys, Just wanted to revisit this post as I had the opportunity to fish from a similar boat yesterday. My Buddy has an older model Basstender 9.4, For any of you that have read my posts, I have been looking into getting something for awhile now and my biggest worry has been carrying capacity bec...
