Re: Daiwa reels - gaudy or sexy?

Those colors totally match. I don't have an issue with that. I still don't like the red lettering on the Morethan, though, and the shine still looks cheap to me, but I haven't seen one in person unfortunately. I mentioned the Zillion SV TW with the blue body and red/orange accents. I think those co...

Re: Best UL reels under $50

i'm not looking to spend more than $50 on an UL reel for a reel weighing 6.5 or less and fairly smooth. I've been looking around and found some decent candidates but i would like to know if there are other reels out there.. not a big fan of pfleuger spinning reels so because i've had them break on ...

Re: Your ideal BFS rod action?

I have, but I am leery of spending too much on a trout rod due to the potential bycatch for the species I want to target. I fish for White Perch in brackish rivers, but a very common bycatch will be schoolie Stripers, Pickerel up to the low 20", and even schoolie Blues. I worry that most Trout rods...

Re: How do you define your enthusiasm?

I couldn't choose a monetary category. I went with the "Whatever makes me smile" vote. That is not to say that money is no object. I don't have the money to buy $600 rods and reels, but I do have the money to hunt down some nice gear and upgrade/restore it as I go. For me it is more of a "I know it ...

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?

New guy here, though I have been mooching info from you guys for quite a while now. I am most definitely a Daiwa guy. Not that I don't have a good number of other reels. I have 13 spinning reels, 9 of which are Pflueger Presidents, 3 are lower priced Daiwa Revros and Legalis and 1 KastKing Sharkey I...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels

This is my first post here, though I have been reading the posts here trying to learn things for quite a while now. This thread seems like a good place to jump in and a logical place to tell a little about my taste in gear. I've got maybe 30 reels. Some of them are middle of the road or budget reels...
