Re: Topwater popping rod
My rod for fishing poppers in a 6' Loomis GLX. Specifically a CR722. I have the MBR782 but usually use it for other topwaters like the Devil's Horse or Baby Torpedos. To me, poppers require a 6 footer.

Re: Rod for rat-l-traps
Not to hijack this thread, but has anyone tried a MBR842 for lipless cranks? just curious because I've lost a number of fish using an MBR782.
thanks

Re: Daiwa Reel Bearing Upgrade
Should I use the bearing oil that came with my Daiwas in the new bearings, or is there something else recommended? thanks

Re: What rod(s) is (are) on your All Time Favorite list?
I find myself fishing my BCR803 GLX the most right now. I'm having most of my success with T-rig worms this summer. That said, the MBR782 IMX is really fun to toss topwaters and small worms.

Re: Daiwa Reel Bearing Upgrade
Thanks Illini Dawg. The TDZ105's certainly do cast the lighter baits best of all. I'm really curious to see what kind of difference the bearings will make.

Daiwa Reel Bearing Upgrade
I'm considering upgrading the bearings on one of my reels to see what difference it would make in casting. My questions is; which bearing should I upgrade to, Boca 7?. Here is the list of my reels, which one should I try first? (2) Steez 103HA (2) Zillions 100SHA (1) 50th Anniversary Zillion (1) Zil...

I really like fishing the Loomis CR722 casting rod. Mine is a GLX with the Weibe reel seat. Love it for small worms and topwater.

Re: Jig & Worm Rod
I've been using this rod (BCR803) the last few times out, and I'm finding out that it is a great spinnerbait rod. This rod is turning out to be very versatile.

Jig & Worm Rod
Does anyone use a Loomis Jig and Worm Rod, specifically the BCR803 GLX rod for spinnerbaits? It just seems that with the extra-fast taper it would be a good choice for this. I used mine today for spinnerbaits, and it felt like a pretty good match.

Re: Jerkbait rod
Everyone has their favorites, so I'll suggest you look at the Loomis IMX MBR782c. I'm not sure if they cost more than $250 or not, but if so you might be able to find a used one. It is a great jerkbait/topwater rod. Also, the St. Croix medium power Avid in 6'-6" has a very soft tip and would be less...
