Re: Daiwa 22 Silver Wolf SV TW PE Special 1000, 2022

I’m just curious if anyone has one of these yet? It does appear to be “mag sealed”. It weighs 185 grams which is strange. I’m guessing it still has AL gears but also an AL drag star. The bearings count seems to match the standard Zillion. The extra 10 grams of weight must be in the drag star and “m...

Re: Dry 2020 Metanium Drag Stacks?

Dunno...Don't have a bantam so I can't tell. Both of mine are JDM lefty too. 6.2 and 8.1 I also got JDM 16 met, aldebran 30 and bfs, scorpion, bfs Calcutta, few steezes and they're all pretty much free handle spin with the drag fully backed off. The ones that I opened up had the drag assembly greas...

Dry 2020 Metanium Drag Stacks?

I noticed both of my 2020 Metaniums have quite high drag resistance with the star fully backed off. I took one of them apart few minutes ago and found that the drag stack has almost no grease. There was a bit of 'dust' underneath the main great too. Even the gears were somewhat lacking in lube. I cl...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

Does anyone find the position of the brake dial bothersome in any way? Accidental adjustments or digging into your finger? I personally cant even feel the dial when palming it. It is very "out of the way", even compared to its big brother, the SV TW. Same here. No matter how I palm the reel, I neve...

Re: daiwa reel on shimano reel seat

Any nicks in the reel seat from interchanging? I like to keep my gear as spotless as possible and some reel seats can be damaging to the paint on reels. There are slight fitment issues with Daiwas reel feet and Ci4 reel seats. It's a tight fit. Right now I have my PX68 on an 18 Poison Adrena. I've ...

daiwa reel on shimano reel seat

Someone mentioned that there are some fit issues daiwa baitcasters when mounted on shimano rods with ci4+ reel seat.
I'm particularly interested in Adrena/Expride + Steez SV fit.
Thanks

Re: Too much oil on SVS breaks??

Use a dry q-tip and remove every bit of the oil you can, on every surface you can get to, including the brake blocks themselves. That thin oil migrates everywhere when centrifugal force from the spool's rotation forces it out. Clean all those surfaces until there doesnt appear to be any oil left at...

I used the shimano batam oil. I wiped most of the oil off the break pipes and left just a thin coating.

Re: Too much oil on SVS breaks??

Have you... tried cleaning any excess oil off and testing? And check they are in fact in the 'on' position rather than 'off' position. they were/are on. I did wipe some off, but it helped very little. I guess there was just too much of it - I did only put one tiny drop. live and learn :) I really h...

Too much oil on SVS breaks??

I just came back from fishing and it was a backlash nightmare. The day before I oiled the spool bearing and breaks on both my Ald mgl and Met mgl. I ended up with 4 internal breaks on, and like 4 to 6 external in order not to backlash midcast. It's like the SVS breaks on my reels just stopped workin...

Re: NRX 852C how does it translate to JDM rods?

First two numbers are total length in inches and the third number is power. I power being light, 2power medium and 3 med heavy and 4 heavy. Nrx rods seem to be a bit on the light side of most power rating systems. I dont have an 852, but do have a 893, 873, 894, and a 852s spinning rod. All rods ar...

NRX 852C how does it translate to JDM rods?

I'm curious how does this NRX translate to JDM rods, specifically Shimano rods? I'm not specifically talking about tapers and sensitivity, but more about power, line and lure weights.

Re: Shimano Expride A Casting Rod 7'2" Med Lt+ Reviews

Just got the expride 168L BFS to replace my slightly damaged Zodias. I was debating if I should get one, but after playing around with a medium light model the rod felt quite nice so I got a BFS model. I'll be paring it up with Alde BFS and Alde MGL this weekend so I won't know how it fishes till th...
