Re: Point Blank Rod for Football Jigs
I have the 761HF. This should fit the bill. I wouldn't buy the MH. I have two of the 701MHF and they start to get overpowered at 3/4 ounce. The 761HF has a pretty light tip. It starts getting overpowered at 1 ounce punch weights. 3/4 punch weights/jigs work well. The Point Blank rods have such a th...

Point Blank Rod for Football Jigs
Hey guys, I've heard a lot of great things about Point Blank rod blanks and how great they are. I'm looking for a really sensitive heavy football jig rod to throw 1/2oz to 3/4oz jigs. I was looking at 7'6" size rod and need some advice on choosing between the PB761MHF vs PB761HF rods. The PB761MHF i...

Re: FMJ Vs PIII Bearing down
How does the Destroyer USA FMJ compare and contrast to the Phase III Bearing down as a jig/worm rod? Had the PIII bearing down and loved its feather weight for the power, and superb sensitivity but it was a bit short and didn't have quite the tip I like for roll casting and skipping. Wondering if t...

Re: Dobyns DX746 or DX795 for Deep Water + Heavy Jigs
Oh nice to know you actually use it to toss 1oz jigs too! Thanks for the quick and short reply.zodiak311 wrote:Dx795, you want the extra length. I use mine for 1oz jigs, paired with a Zillion Type R, 65lb braid.

Re: Dobyns DX746 or DX795 for Deep Water + Heavy Jigs
You need to define nicer ;) I don't like the Dobyns as well as that HE3 7'3H you have. However, they might feel slightly better throwing such a heavy rig. I have Powell 795 and 775. Neither quite as sensitive as the HE3 but both would do very well with the big jig and trailer. I'd probably rig it o...

Dobyns DX746 or DX795 for Deep Water + Heavy Jigs
So this is a rather odd question but I've been scratching my head for awhile trying to see what I should do. I need a rod or two to help me fish Lake Baccarac in Mexico, where 1oz jigs + 7" senkos as trailers were the king of producing the big bites. I visited Baccarac in Dec '17 for the first time ...
