Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I have the 842 and 843, and the 842 throws 1/4 ounce baits far better than the 843....i don't pull out the 843 until I get to 1/2 ounce.

Re: Anyone tried the Aldebaran MGL?

I too am in love with the conquest and think it would be tough to beat. That said, a buddy with the Aldebaran says that they are very close. His words......” make your decision based on feel in hand”. The conquest wins when considering large swimbaits or crankbaits

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I think the 2 and the 3 are both rated a tad lower than need be.

No line, if truly slack, will give you feedback out her than possible visual. That is a reason many go to high vis line

Re: Best braid for spinning reels?

There is no such thing as best, since it is all subjective.
I have found it easier to list the ones I would throw
832 and yes it is less boyant
Smackdowwn
Gamma
Fins
And there is nothing wrong with PP

Re: Megabass 2016 Worm and Jig vs. Tour Versatile rod

When I talked to the guys at tackle trap, they steamed me away from the JWR largely because of weight and really pushed the Versatile. I decided to wait and see how this year's crop of MB works out......I then bought the FMJ as it serves my needs.

Re: Braid That Keeps Its Color

Fins holds its colors the best by far and Gamma is not far behind, but I don't mind a little fading. I run 832 which fades, but it really doesn't matter. But based on performance

Re: G-Loomis Swimbait rod.

I have the E6X swimbait rod and while it is rated for 2 ounce, that is pushing it.
Look elsewhere for something that is good to 5 ounces and that said, it should be good for 7 if you want to throw 5.
Luckily that are not to expensive.

Re: Loomis JWR vs SBR

I have both and the biggest difference is in the tip. I use the JWR for jig, worms, and bottom baits.
The SBR is great for moving baits.
The JWR could work for moving baits but not sure you would be happy using the SBR for bottom fishing
Hope that helps

Re: How do you keep your tackle bag from getting soaked?

Any back-packing or outdoor store sell backpack covers that work great
Most Plano boxes also fit in 2 gallon freezer bags.
Both will really help

Re: Loomis Noob, looking for GLX help

The GLX worm and jig rods may be the best band for the buck out there....Love mine, and considering a GLX flipping stick.
You will not regret it! That said in the MBR GLX is a different animal and is more universal in nature.
