Re: Skip casting reels.

I had my first practice yesterday. Verdict: Luna 100/ Ryoga 1016. Possible. Lexa 300 first version. Possible. Team Diawa 153hst. Pick of the bunch. Fuego ct100. Very good for lighter work. At this stage, it would depend on species and if every cast was to be skipped. And of course, your ability. (I ...

Skip casting reels.

Hi all, I am in Australia, and like fishing for saltwater estuary fish with baitcasters and hard bodies. Over the years I have collected a nice selection of round reels which I prefer. Now, it appears the technique to use is skipping plastics under overhanging branches etc. Everyone seems to use low...

Re: The Daiwa Luna 300 version1.

Well I will answer my own question :-) I tore down the Lexa 300, because from being new that slop in the drive shaft irritated me. Custom cut carbontex washers and lube saw the rebuilt reel feel twice as good. I cannot see why the big change to stainless gears as the enormous brass gear surely would...

Re: The Daiwa Luna 300 version1.

Arrrggghh!

What a stupid mistake I have made.

The reel I mean is a LEXA.

The Luna is a nice reel too :-).

The Daiwa Luna 300 version1.

Just found a lightly used one that was packed away some time ago.

Seems to have been discontinued for an upgraded version.

Any info regarding faults, issues or general opinions welcomed.

I bought it on a whim and it appears now obsolete.

Re: Calcutta 50 sized xt or conquest?

Thanks all for the advice.

I am pretty fussy about post use cleaning of tackle so It's nice to know others have had OK experiences.

Calcutta 50 sized xt or conquest?

Has anyone used these in saltwater?

Classed as freshwater surely with standard TLC should be OK?

I don't need a Ryoga 100. Do I?

Where does this reel sit in the scheme of things? Built like a tank, but with a line capacity suited to bass. So, I live in Australia and this may be a super reel for Barramundi, but all my bases are covered. Light: Calcutta 50xt , Millionaire CVZ 103, Medium: Lexa 300, Millionaire 203 Heavy: Pluton...

Daiwa 14 Millionaire 100.

Hi all, Can anyone shine some light on this reel? I believe it is designed more for light jigging than casting and comes without much in the way of brake technology, but is very strong for its size. I am old school and was brought up constantly trying to improve free spool on Abu 5000s, jigmasters e...
