Re: Daiwa Z: Times Have Changed

I use mine for musky with 50lb braid. Wouldn't want to trade it for any other reel.

Re: So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

ZPI is most likely going back to producing custom parts by early 2021 :laugh1:

There is simply no way they're making bank on these.

Just grab some older models. Not only are they built like tanks, but they look nice too.

Re: So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

It's like dating a fat girl or riding a moped ....sure, it might end up being fun, but nobody wants their friends to see them doing it! I don't see it even being "fun". We already have our quality Made in Japan reels that have access to ZPI spools for almost 20 years. Why spend $300 on a Doyo reel,...

So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

I heard they're not producing custom parts anymore, instead, they're into selling rods and reels now. Is anybody even buying them?

There are these as well. Don't know who makes them. 8.23g for the 34mm platform.

Re: Daiwa reels - gaudy or sexy?

Morethan aesthetics... https://i.ibb.co/GQNrsFF/fmj-morethan-3.jpg https://i.ibb.co/WD6X1h6/fmj-pp-2.jpg I don't know how could anyone even come close to saying that the morethan has too much color clashing. The original? Maybe, a bit. But the newer model looks slick, and nowhere near too flashy. I...

Re: Steez 103 R+ spool

I really enjoy hearing about guys who still appreciate and enjoy the venerable TD-Z platform, which will always have a special place in my heart. That original Steez 103 spool, black or red, is fantastic in the TD-Z. This is why so many folks still seek the original Gigas R+ reel, or the spool, or ...

Re: Daiwa reels - gaudy or sexy?

1- a ton of limited edition reels that looks "special" 2- magz/magv/SV are the best braking systems that not only can be had on cheap reels, but they also exist for ~20 years at this point. The current shimano centrifugal system is as good, but how long did it took em to have it? It only been around...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

The picture i posted was for the 30mm platform.

Has anyone tried the RORO spools? How do they perform compared to the high end from megabass, ktf, etc? The spool bearings seems like something you cannot buy from hedgehog, so that's kind of a problem

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

The very shallow and light weight DIY spools made by “Roro” for 34mm Daiwa/Steez etc are again available. Moreover, the same manufacturer has made DIY spools for the CT reels. Which one, any links? I fund this. 4.9g in a 34mm/steez platform, and its made by RORO as well. 4.9g with bearing included ...

Re: Need opinions upgrade daiwa alphas air bearing.

Pretty sure alphas air comes with quality stock bearings, but i've never seen em so i dunno. If its just stock bearings you'd get inside a pixy, etc, then yes, Air BFS are great, especially for the ultra light stuff. Air BFS are metal so they're nowhere near as noisy as the ray studio ones. Alphas ...
