Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

Fund an even lighter spool. They have it for Tats and the 34mil steez platform. 6.3g with bearing, but they go for $70. After someone orders one of these, let us know how they perform. The inductor is pretty small. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/modified-micro-objects-spool-D-fishing-wheel...

Never pull from the reel or rod, take the line pull it tight and then ping it like shooting an arrow, usually the lure jumps out of the snag.
Yup, i do that, but if it doesn't come out, i was just placing my thumb on the spool and pull. No more, tho.

I always place my thumb on the spool in hopes that this saves strain on the drive train and gears. In the future I'll try and wrap my line around something else and try to pull out lure and\or break line.
i dont think placing your thumb does anything because that is all i have been doing.

Re: Are we destroying our Gear Sets by pulling out snag?

I always pull those snags loose with a gloved hand and the line wrapped around that hand. If you lock down the drag with 50-65# braid on a reel with aluminum gears and haul in a stump, you pretty much deserve a damaged gear set imho. That is what i've been telling to myself the last season. Even wi...

Re: Newer Reels

Honestly, until I started grabbing Fuegos, I hated the physical dimensions of Daiwa and hated Magforce. I am sold on these Fuegos and aim to try a Tat CT or even go higher in the food chain. Now, when I hold a Curado, up to an including the I models, they're uncomfortable. I've had 70s, 100s and 20...

Are we destroying our Gear Sets by pulling out snag?

You know, 20-65lb braid, you're snagged, you lock your drag and pull out a damn tree from the bottom of the lake. Then your gears become noisy and "grindy". Especially on aluminum micro gear sets.

Re: Steez Limited 105 paint ?

Since we're on the subject of clearcoating, i was just coating my td ito today 8-) I hope the end result looks good because the reel is nib and was a pain in the ass to find. You should remove the palming side plate of the used one you have, clean it up, and coat it with a clear coat to see what's up.

Re: Alcance (zpi) rods

Just noticed

if you listen to the video with a pair of headphones, you can hear the grindy/cheap sound on the reel. Same thing you'd get on a Piscifun, KastKing, Favorite and the rest of bottom of the barrel reels.

Re: Alcance (zpi) rods

What do you mean, are they not making spools and custom parts anymore? Nope, they are going into rods and reels, no more custom spools or other parts. There is a thread here that looks deeper at the reel they are offering. Turns out, it is the same reel as a current BPS reel model. Had no idea they...

Re: Alcance (zpi) rods

If their reel is just a cheapo aliexpress reel with ZPI parts, i now ask myself if their rods are just Favorite garbage with the ZPI branding on them.
