Re: Tailwalk Silverna Taki TZ???
Randy, I don't own any UL Tailwalk rods, but I do own the Tailwalk outback series spinning rod 695 M. Fit and finish are on par with Major Craft & Anglers Republic (Palms) The solid reel seats gives extreme sensitivity & is very similar to the reel seat on the Daiwa Gekkabijin Mebaru rod. Action is ...

Re: Crevalle (Trevally) on UL Gear
Knotty, It all depends on conditions, when the water is super clear & fish are skittish I fish UL if the wind permits... (Daiwa Gekkabijin MX M72L-S.K) 5 piece with 2000S Twinpower & 4lb YGK braid FG knotted to 6' of 8lb leader unless the Ladyfish are swarming & then I blood knot in 6 inches of 20lb...

Re: Crevalle (Trevally) on UL Gear
Knotty, I can't speak to the fishing at Apollo beach specifically, but I have fished extensively around Tampa & St. Pete. One word of advice if you fish soft plastics on Jig heads bring lots, the puffer fish will destroy them. I tend to fish Mirrodine mini's & Mirro Minnows along with Small vibe bai...

Re: Favorite UL Hardbait
NorCoMike,
Thanks I will check it out, the 16th oz version looks like it might be a killer for open water Wipers/Yellow Bass.

Re: Ester or PE Braid?
I can't speak about Ester as I have not tried it yet, but a spool is on the way. Following up on what Allsorts stated in an earlier post I am usually wading snaggy creeks for Smallmouth or an open reservoir for Hybrids & braid with the appropriate leader gives me the most versatility. The JDM braids...

Wpeart,
Thanks for the reply, I will look those up. I agree on the Slider grup, that little kicker tail seems to just provoke strikes.

Re: Anyone use the Daiwa Presso Travel UL 4 Piece Rods?
Just above that price are the Major Craft CRX 4 Piece rods & I really like the one I got with the solid tip. About $100 give or take. Digitaka has them, Amazon.co.jp & Rakuten too. Nice fast action, I will try & post a couple pics & weigh it tomorrow.

Favorite UL Hardbait
So I know that most people here including myself use Jigs with soft plastics frequently due to their versatility & availability, but sometimes I just want to use a hard bait. My favorite UL hard baits are mainly sinking pencils and range from the lightest at 1.8g to heaviest at 6.0g. Size from 35mm ...

Majorcraft CRX-S764UL Solid tip "Light game" travel rod
Snuck out for a test run of the CRX-764UL Solid tip "Light Game" travel rod from Major Craft. For an entry level "Light Game" rod fit & finish are excellent. Paired with a Shimano Ultegra 1000 & YGK G Soul X4 PE .2 (4lb) FG knotted to 6lb Yo Zuri fluorocarbon it is a fun rod to fish. With 1.4 gram J...

Re: Picked up some new spoons...
Nice mix, let us know how they do. I have some 2g & 3g Forest spoons I bought off Amazon.jp & did very well with them on Bluegill & Spotted bass over the summer.

Re: DAIWA GEKKABIJIN MX M72L-S
I think the rod is very solid, but be care needs to be taken with the tip as it is tiny. I put a fine film of Loon Graphtolin ferrule wax at the base of each ferrule where they seat so that I can be sure they will come apart later. I don't find there to be any flat spots at the ferrules & it is a fa...
