Re: Okashira Screwheads- what swimbait?
3" spark shad or hazedong shad are what it's designed for, but I've also had success with the keitech easy shiner's as well.

Re: Daiwa Steez AGS – Not “The One” You Might Expect but Absolutely the One When it Comes to Versatility
Agree with phish-hunter! Great review on this specific rod as I'm in the market for a higher end spinning rod, but I hear rumors of Phenix releasing an updated K2 blank in the near future. How's the sensitivity compared to NRX? I see you mentioned it competes with all the great higher end rods, but ...

Re: NEW Phenix Ultra MBX w/T40J
So far I love all of my Phenix rods as well and they've never let me down yet. Definitely following this thread as I've only fished their M1, Feather, and Recon rods. I'm looking for a jig rod that can handle 1/2 - 3/4 ounce jigs + trailer, and hear that MBX sensitivity is close if not better than G...

Re: Los Angeles vicinity fishing
Closest to you depending where in the Los Angeles area you live in would be Castaic Lake, Pyramid Lake, Piru, Puddingstone.
Water level at Castaic is very low right now, so there are more access points to fish from shore from the main launch ramp area.

Re: Any reviews on the new Phenix m1s ?
It's too bad TW doesn't sell the UMBX, it's tough to find that rod online to purchase. If you go to Phenix rods site they sell rods now , I think this is new but not sure , I don’t remember them ever selling rods on there site Thank you for the heads up, much appreciated! Yea I think that's new sin...

Re: A longer MH rod
Another highend option is the Phenix K2 Torzite Casting Rod 7'6" Heavy. Don't let the power rating throw you off, that rod line fishes light and the Heavy would be like a 4-power in other brands (also see comments on TW). I haven't fished the 7'6" H itself, but I got a 7'1" ML recently and freaking...

Re: A longer MH rod
Take a look at the new Phenix rods M1 as well, they have a 7'8 MH, and H. I've fished with the first generation Phenix M1 7'7 MH, and it did not feel tip heavy, but that was also a custom built rod. The Phenix Feather also has a 7'7 MH or H as well. If you want something higher end, take a look at t...

20 Shimano Exsence DC SS
I was trying to search and see if anyone's created a thread yet regarding the 2020 Shimano Exsence DC SS, but could not find one. Just wondering if anyone has gotten their hands on one yet and what they're using it for? I was in the market of picking up another Bantam MGL for frogging, but may opt f...

I just use electrical tape and just tie the braid on directly and haven't had any slippage issues.

Re: Need Help, New Spinning Reel
If you're looking at daiwa spinning reels, along with the Tatula LT, check out the Ballistic LT as well. I have a Stradic Ci4, and picked up the Stradic FL back in November and have fished with it a lot. I'm really liking the Stradic FL as it has a buttery smooth drag, I do notice a slight increase ...

Re: Scorpion 71 vs Curado71
If you want a reel that you can also frog with, go with either the Curado K, Scorpion MGL, or Bantam MGL due to line capacity.

Re: Scorpion 71 vs Curado71
I believe the extra bearing is in the handle. I have the scorpion 71HG and use it mainly for pitching. What pound braid are you planning on spooling the reel with? If you're frogging and and spooling up 65 pound braid or heavier, not sure if it will hold enough line if you're bombing casts with it.
