Re: Top water rod help needed

Actually, I was looking at a Dobyns Sierra Series Spinning Rod 6'9" Medium today. Tackle Warhouse has it on sale for 25% off. I have never had a Dobyns, so I don’t much about them other than they have a good reputation.

Re: Top water rod help needed

I use 10 lb braid with a short leader. My budget is $250 or less. I have been able to get several of the IMX Pros at really good deals. I do like Loomis, Expride, and Zodias, but it I’m not stuck on those brands. I actually looked at the Don Iovino, but I wondered how the extra fast tip would work. ...

Top water rod help needed

One of my favorite ways to catch bass is on a little 1/4 Rico or Megabass Pop x. I fish bigger poppers on casting gear, but I prefer spinning rods for this technique. Last year, I tied a popper onto a Loomis GLX 6’10 Shaky Head rod. I caught more fish on that set up and almost anything else last yea...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Does anyone know the weight difference between the 843c (which is supposed to weigh 3.6 ounces) and 844c?

7.1 or 7.3 ft rod for hollow bodied frogs

I fish primarily Lake Lanier and a local reservoir, neither of which has heavy grass. I have a G. Loomis IMX Pro Casting Rod 7'1" Heavy 854C JWR that is used for throwing hollow bodied frogs and Carolina rigs. Do you think a longer rod (like the IMX Pro 7.3 Carolina rig rod) would be better for...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I have both the 843 and 844. The 843 is my favorite. If you are getting a rod primarily to fish 3/8 jigs and some weightless Senkos, I would get the 843. The 844c is my jig rod. A 1/2 Jig with a trailer felt like a little too much for the 843c. Since you already have a FMJ for heavier jigs, get the ...

Re: Sunline Crank FC fluorocarbon

After watching the guys on Tactical Bassin and David Fritts recommend using light braid (I am trying 20 lb Sufis 832), I decided to try that. I will still use a shock leader. I am thinking about ordering some Sunline Crank to use as a shock leader. The super slick ION coating they tout makes me wond...

How do you keep your tackle bag from getting soaked?

I have good foul weather gear, so I don’t mind fishing in the rain. However, I don’t like for my tackle bag to get soaked. I have to worry about rusted hooks. I have a Cabela’s Advanced Angler Large tackle Bag. I know it can put a garbage bag over it, but I had rather have a real solution. I could b...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I have owned an a NRX (and had it break and replaced). These rods are dramatically stronger. With the Spiral X technology, you will have to work hard to break the Conquest. As for the recoil guides, I don’t miss them. They were noisy and it was somewhat difficult to pass a knot through them. I did f...

Sunline Crank FC fluorocarbon

I am considering getting some of the us to use for cranking on a casting reel. I currently use 30 lb. braid with a 9 foot or so leader. I am thinking that this line with a little more stretch would help me. I could use it as my mine line, but generally hate straight fluorocarbon. Also, most of what ...

Tungsten football jigs

I have a lot of jigs and fishing a jig is my favorite way to catch a bass. I just ordered my first 1/2 tungsten football jigs (Evolution jigs). I was shocked at how much smaller the head it compared to lead. Of course, the downside is that tungsten is more expensive. I would love to hear from someon...

Lake Picachos in Mexico

I have been to Angler's Inn in El Salto and it was the one of the most memorable events in my life. I have a chance to go back to Mexico with my son for another trip this year. I can go back to El Salto or the sister lake, Lake Picachos. I was hoping to hear some feedback from someone who has been t...

Livetarget Baitball spinner

Anybody fished these? I am not an Alabama rig guy or even much as spinnerbait guy. I do throw underspins. This new bait looks intriguing. There are a lot of size options though. I was thinking 3/8 medium size would be a good starting point. Any thoughts?

They do not come with a rod sleeve.
