Re: El Salto Recommendations??

The last time I took a soft Loomis duffel bag (had to check it because of the hooks) and a small carry on. Anglers Inn launders your clothes each day, so you can pack light. The Loomis duffel served as my “tackle bag” on the boat and wasn’t that great for that purpose. This time, I bought a Tackle W...

Re: El Salto Recommendations??

Chris,
I’m so excited for you. Please let me know how it turns out. We went in October last time and we are planning on going back this year around Thanksgiving. Good Luck!

Re: Feed Your Enthusiast Soul : Conquest 842C MBR

I have had everything in the Loomis lineup from E6x to the Conquest. I still have a mix of NRX, GLX, and Conquest. The softer tips of the Conquests do take a little getting used to. If I was going somewhere and could only take two rods, I would take my Conquest 842s spinning rod and 843c casting rod...

Re: El Salto Recommendations??

I would recommend the Anglers Inn. My wife sent me there for my 50th birthday and it was incredible. The fishing is out of this world. If your wife is going, she would appreciate the beautiful scenery, spa, delicious food and a staff that is first class. We’ve been to Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean a...

Metanium for cranking

All of my casting reels are Metanium MGL’s except for one Chronarch MGL. It is used for cranking. I’m always looking to eke out a little more distance with my cranking set up. Does anyone with knowledge of both know if I can get greater distance with the Metanium than a Chronarch MGL?

Re: Conquest 842s

You could, but I use a dedicated drop shot rod (NRX 822DSR) that has a tip more suited to that technique.

Re: Best Japanese 8 strand or better braid.

I really like the Hitena braid. I am slowing converting all my reels to that. So far, I only have the Supercast. I want o try the Silky.

Re: Conquest 842s

I have one and I love it. I also have had IMX Pro’s, GLX, and NRX. The Conquest is lighter and stronger than any of the others. Sensitivity is about the same as an NRX. In my opinion, you can do pretty much anything you would want to with a spinnng rod with the 842s (except drop shot).

Re: Hitena Braid

I have tried the Super Cast. I was told it is the one to get for bottom contact. I have it on two reels and likevit. It is very thin and strong. The Silky is insanely expense, but I do want to try it.

Shimano Expride glass rods

I have never owned a glass rod, but I am considering an Expride 7.2 MH glass rod. I currently have an IMX PRO 845CBR for squarebills and mid divers and a 906CBR for mid and deep divers. They are good rods. I only own one Expride, which is a 6'10 Medium. I like how light it is and especially how far ...

Re: Conquest 842S or Megabass Addermine

I like Megabass products, but the Conquest is in a different league. It is a lot more money, but I love mine. You can pick up a used on this (or another) forum.

Magnum Shakey Head Fishing

I have gotten into off shore fishing this summer (mainly deep diving crankbaits). I want to try fishing bigger worms on heavier shakey heads. I am getting ready to order some 9 inch T-Macs and 1/2 stand up jigs for starters. Anyone had success/advice with this technique?

Dobyns Champion XP Cranking Rod 8' MH 805

I currently am using a G. Loomis IMX PRO 906CBR for deep diving crank baits (up to 1 ounce). My limit is the 1.25 ounce Spro Super DD and Berkley Dredger 25.5. It works great, but I would like to get longer casts. Does anyone have a Dobyns Champion XP Cranking Rod 8' MH 805 that you use to throw 6XD...
