Re: Tackle box for air travel

I just got back fro El Salto and took my own gear. I had a Plano wheeled rod tube. Pete Robbins, from Bassmaster magazine, wrote a great article on traveling with rods and I followed his advice. I also took a Tackle Warehouse back pack. 2 3700 size boxes and tons of storage for soft plastics, etc. P...

Conquest 905c question

I just picked up a used Conquest 905c. I plan to take it to El Salto soon to fish big jigs with big trailers. I would like to hear from some owners what some other good uses for this rod would be? 1-2.5 ounce swimbaits maybe?

Re: New Poison Adrena

I am looking at the 6’11 Medium+ as my Topwater rod. I have an Expride 6’10 Medium that I love. Most off what I throw are 1/2-3/4 baits. I was thinking this rod might be a little better for that. I also throw some jerkbaits, underspinss, etc. Any thoughts?

El Salto in November

I’m getting ready to go back to Angler’s Inn on Lake El Salto. We will be going back over the Thanksgiving break. I know about the staples like 6 inch Senkos, Power Worms, lizards, lipless cranks, Whopper Plopper’s, Rico’s, jigs, etc. I was wondering if anyone has some ideas about baits I might be m...

Islamadora or Key West

Looks like we are heading to Miami, Islamorada, and Key West next week. Where do I need to go fishing? Will get a half day trip somewhere.

Gene Larew Rock Badgers

I’m not sure why I quit fishing the Biffle Bug hard head/Biffle bug, but after breaking it back out this weekend and having success, Im going to throw it more often. I’m thinking about trying some of the Rock Badgers. Anybody use those?

Re: El Salto Recommendations??

The last time I took a soft Loomis duffel bag (had to check it because of the hooks) and a small carry on. Anglers Inn launders your clothes each day, so you can pack light. The Loomis duffel served as my “tackle bag” on the boat and wasn’t that great for that purpose. This time, I bought a Tackle W...

I’m so excited for you. Please let me know how it turns out. We went in October last time and we are planning on going back this year around Thanksgiving. Good Luck!

Re: Feed Your Enthusiast Soul : Conquest 842C MBR

I have had everything in the Loomis lineup from E6x to the Conquest. I still have a mix of NRX, GLX, and Conquest. The softer tips of the Conquests do take a little getting used to. If I was going somewhere and could only take two rods, I would take my Conquest 842s spinning rod and 843c casting rod...

Re: El Salto Recommendations??

I would recommend the Anglers Inn. My wife sent me there for my 50th birthday and it was incredible. The fishing is out of this world. If your wife is going, she would appreciate the beautiful scenery, spa, delicious food and a staff that is first class. We’ve been to Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean a...

Metanium for cranking

All of my casting reels are Metanium MGL’s except for one Chronarch MGL. It is used for cranking. I’m always looking to eke out a little more distance with my cranking set up. Does anyone with knowledge of both know if I can get greater distance with the Metanium than a Chronarch MGL?

Re: Conquest 842s

You could, but I use a dedicated drop shot rod (NRX 822DSR) that has a tip more suited to that technique.

Re: Best Japanese 8 strand or better braid.

I really like the Hitena braid. I am slowing converting all my reels to that. So far, I only have the Supercast. I want o try the Silky.
