Re: Which is your favorite rod company?

Currently Dobyns followed by St Croix I have a few Diawa's but not a big fan, but slowly warming up to them (1 Steez one zillion and a tatula) I have had a few Gloomis rods but have never been a big fan of them and I mean all their series- way over priced and hyped. I do have a Deep Flex that is gre...

St Croix Legen Tournament 8'6" LBS86mlxf

Finally purchased this rod. First things though: I originally bought the Curado CDSX74M to throw Ned rigs. Found that it had too much tip to throw anything under 3/8 oz. It was a bit too stiff. Started to use it to throw spybaits and it proven to be really great for that technique. So I still wanted...

Re: Cranking rod

most of my Crankbait rods are basically Dobyn's

805CB RM
764CB RM
705CB
634CB
635CB

and a Fenwick Elite tech(the old 2 colour black and yellow) and a
Gloomis 903C Deepflex

I have too many crankbait rods but they all have a purpose, and I only use 5:1 or 6:1 ratio reels

Re: Which reel for my Helium 3, 7' heavy?

Having gone from all Shimano to Lews (bb1's, speed spool tournament and super duty) I have gone back to a mix of Shimano (Chronarch 200hg, 150, 150hg, Curado K) and Daiwa (SV103, Tatula CT, Type-r). I am moving away from LEWS for several reasons: 1) they don't hold up like Shimano. 2) Local store do...

Re: 8'6" Drop shot rods

Thanks for the reply. I almost pulled the trigger one this past weekend. I have no 4000 series reels so I think I will hold off for a bit.

Re: Retro style rod

I was going to build a pistol grip rod using an old handle. Still might

On the old pistol grip rods, the handle separated from the blanks, so you could change rods but use the same handle.

Re: What happen to the Z hype?

I tried one last week. In the parking lot at my local crack er... tackle dealer. It cast quite well. The sound was different - not louder or quieter - but different. I made about a dozen casts with it. The distance was good. My favourite colour is orange so that did not dissuade me. My main issue wi...

Re: Abu Garcia WTF's

Gave up on Abu several years ago. Had a revo (can't remember the model). Took it part to clean and was shocked how cheap the parts were. Getting back together was not fun. When compared to Shimano curado's and chronarch's of the time the Abu's were not worth the money time or effort. Still feel the ...

Lew's Service

Just thought I would post about the great service I received from Lew's. I recently tore down 2 BB1's speed spools. In the process I mess up the stoppers. Not sure what I had done, I sent an email off through their website on Good Friday. On Monday morning @ 9:30 a.m. EST, I received a reply on how ...

Re: Missing Cast Control Cap

Thanks for the replies.

I used to get parts from Mikes years ago. Never an issue. I tried them first and got no response. I have tried many other so called reel repair sites.

I will be trying Reelparts Thanks Zimbass.
