Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper
So then following all the great logic here, then a soft tip is better for cranks than a fast tip given the same action? You're still mixing it up. A rod can have a fast tip that is soft or stiff. "Fast" is used to describe the action/taper. You cant' tell if a rod has a soft tip or not based on the...

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper
Great info here. This clears up a lot!
So then following all the great logic here, then a soft tip is better for cranks than a fast tip given the same action?
And a good indicator of a soft tip "should" be the lowest lure rating for a rod? Say I have an h/xh rod that can throw 3/8 oz lures.

Re: Orochi xx Tour Versatile for Grenades?
Thank-you all for the replies so far. I'm leaning more towards the Pitch Perfect as a few people have actually recommended it and say it would do fine with cranks such as the Grenade -- but one person did reply back in this thread saying might be it too fast. Does anyone have experience with the PP,...

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper
That's a great point. I have always been confused when people say they what a extra fast rod with a "soft tip". I always thought they were mutual, meaning the slower the tip the softer it was.

Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper
Hi All, I was wondering if there is a difference between Soft Tip and Action and Taper? I understand action, its the particular point at which a rod stops bending and the blanks power takes over. But a soft tip....does that mean it takes less effort to get to the blanks power given the same action o...

Perfect Pitch is interesting....is it too fast for crank baits though?M Perry wrote:In the XX Series you are gonna want the Launcher, Perfect Pitch or Flipping Special to throw the Grenade.

Would be awesome but a little bit out of my budget range for nowLowRange wrote:The Seven Eleven x4 and Black Python x4 do well with both deep cranks and frogs. I've fished both with an IP68 on #30 braid.

Okuma Scott Martin TCS ML Spinning rod for finesse?
Hey Everyone, Has anyone used the Okuma TCS ML Spinning rod? The specs are: 7'0" Spinning Power: Medium Light Action: Moderate Fast/Fast Line: 4-10lb Lure Size: 1/8 - 1/2 oz Spec wise this seems perfect for finesse fishing, in particular I will use it for spybaiting and as a secondary application fo...

Re: Chatterbait trailer selection
Chatterbaits have more of an up and down wavy action. Wouldn't you want to get a trailer that has roughly the same action? Using a trailer with a twirling (grub tail) action instead of a wavy one would mess up the "rhythm" and cadence of the chatterbait IMHO.

Re: Orochi xx Tour Versatile for Grenades?
Thanks for the input RE 10xd.
Come to think of it, I will only go as big as the MB Grenade for cranks (1-5/8oz) which is much smaller than a 10xd. Would the TV be a suitable candidate for this?
How efficiently would I be able to launch hollow body frogs?

Orochi xx Tour Versatile for Grenades?
Hi Guys,
Long time lurker looking for some advice.
I'd like an "all purpose" rod that can be used primarily for larger crank baits (Grenade, 10xd) and possibly spinners secondary. Bonus if it can triple duty as a frog rod!
Is the Tour Versatile a good rod for these applications?
Thanks!
