Loose drive shaft on Tatula

I have 4 Tatula reels that have been fished hard for several years and notice a definite thumping when i shake the reel. Also quite apparent when I pull on the drag star. I believe this is due to the drive shaft having excessive axial movement. Possibly the bearing under the shaft is worn? I am very...

Re: China/aliexpress gear?

Has anyone tried the fly fishing rods from China? I know there are some decent casting rods for a good price like the kuying rods so I wonder if those rods can be good budget rods or whether they are just garbage. I have ordered 2 from MaxCatch but haven't received them yet. I ordered a 9' 6wt and ...

Re: The smallest ultralight spinning reel?

I was looking for the same last year and after much investigation was going to pull the trigger on the CI4 Soare.
Glad I did not as the 1000 stradics I already had fit the need nicely.

Re: 7'-8' Casting rod?

No unfortunately the rod is way to firm- Closer to a steel head rod than a trout rod. Just put it on the for sale page......

Re: what's everyone's most productive lure?

Well since I do not bass fish it would have to be a thomas bouyant for trout and a close second would be home made black spinners.

Calcutta Conquest BFS Teardown

I have no problem tearing down and doing maintenance on any reel I own but for some reason am intimidated by this one and have yet to do it. Maybe the fact that I have no schematic if I had to have it. I looked for info when I first bought it and found nothing but perhaps now it is available. Anyone...

Great reviews from the TT crew but curious if anyone has tried them? Always looking for something different although my last adventure into a different brand (the unlucky #) was a waste of $ despite stellar reviews....

Re: tatula type-r id

Your reel is the original Tatula. Pretty sure your spool is not compatible with the spool of any CT reel. I think it is wider and deeper than the CT spool. RAY'S STUDIO is the only one that makes a BFS spool for your reel. Check Aliexpress. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32520444316.html?pid=808_000...

Re: Reels Over Rated Or Under Rated

Over rated- Chronacrh MGl- Maybe I got a lemon but after about 20 steel head it was rather geary- Sent it in twice and finally Shimano replaced the main and pinion. Upon return, fishing in cold weather the ar bearing slipped repeatedly- Tore it down and cleaned everything the factory had put inside ...

I have a pair of the original Tatula's that have been my workhorses for salmon and steelhead for the last 5 years without any problem maybe I will retire one to the salt.

Budget salt water casting reel

Looking to buy budget saltwater CASTING reel to use on 1-3# surf perch. Will mostly throw 1/2-3/4 oz. It will take a beating as I will also use it in the rocks so I do not wish to spend a few hundred dollars on it. Just bought a pflueger president as a spinning throw away sale water reel. Recommenda...
