Re: daiwa reel on shimano reel seat

Never had issues with my alphas on an expride, however, I only tighten the locknut/foregrip enough to keep the reel secure and from moving. There's always a gap in the reel seat.

Re: Too much oil on SVS breaks??

I would not put oil on my brakes unless they are too noisy to take. I don't own an SVS braked reel, but many Shimano reels of the past were famous for the brake systems making a lot of noise, yet being scary when oiled. This is another reason why magnet braking systems are a better choice. Ask a Sh...

Re: Too much oil on SVS breaks??

Have you... tried cleaning any excess oil off and testing?

And check they are in fact in the 'on' position rather than 'off' position.

Re: Daiwa Bearing Issues

I think if the number of ticks/bumps matches the gear ratio, it's usually the pinion.
(just guessing, not from experience).

Bearing is 8 ID x 12 OD x 3.5 THK

Re: Conquest 101 doesn’t cast far anymore

Maybe check the spool pin, and the mating slot in the pinion. Is the spool pin catching the pinion on the cast still?

Are you just getting backlashes/birdsnests, and you think there's something wrong with the mag brakes?

Metanium MGL/silent tune - spool shaft

With some recent Shimanos having the bearing behind the spool pin, and no bearing under the c/control knob, is there actually any need for that long spool shaft?

Re: Team Daiwa TD-Z CU spinning reels

Not sure locally, but in Japan, they were about 55,000 JPY MSRP.

Flagship of the time, along with cheaper variants X and S (like the TD-X and TD-S).

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

My question is the opposite, whether those spool bearings can be put in other reels.

Maybe it's also to dampen the spool/bearing vibrations.

Re: Alphabrake - New Kind of Braking?

Interesting. Can you tell us a little more what cast weights and type (low or high wind resistance) you have tried successfully with the brakes?
