Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

Certainly a case of diminishing returns with high end reels, esp. given cheaper reels are pretty good these days for most casual anglers.

Re: Aldebaran MG7 anti-reverse bearing/inner tube

All i'm thinking is that if your drag star (or handle shaft) is not moving but your handle has backplay, there's probably a gap between the handle shaft and the hole in the handle. Maybe look at shimming it to see if that solves your problem.

Re: Aldebaran MG7 anti-reverse bearing/inner tube

Are you talking handle back play?

With the drag done up properly/tight and your finger on the spool, when you try to rotate the handle backwards/rock it forward and backward, does the drag star move with the handle as well?

not that it hasn't been confirmed already by barramaniac, but pics to show the SH has an aluminium gear. https://i.imgur.com/DlKy5dM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EXEMyrO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mSidQeY.jpg Thinking the pinion is stainless, but didn't bother to check. Mine came fairly dry out of the box.

Re: G Loomis Build Quality

Practically speaking, can't see much wrong with the wraps. The misaligned guides/s is a bit annoying and I'd probably look for a better built rod in the shop if there was one. It doesn't appear massively out of alignment and wouldn't stop me from buying though. They do need to be reminded to lift up...

Re: Snaps for UL fishing

I like the Yarie 530 snap in the large size if you don't mind the open design. Pretty much like mustad fly snaps

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

The C6191 marine bronze I think is mainly a copper/aluminum alloy. Yep correct. C6191 is what's called aluminium bronze and alloy that is known for its corrosion resistance. No mention of gear manufacturing in its list of uses though. Bit used a lot in marine applications https://www.daiwa-france.c...
