You mean the Spiderwire Ultracast Untimate Braid? No, I don't have it.

Re: Chap stick on your line for Knots.

I've yet to find a knot lubricant that outperforms the mighty astroglide.
Cheaper ones work like a charm too.

Spiderwire now marks the actual tensile strength of braids on the spool

Actually they've been doing this since the new package design several years ago but it was not until yesterday that I finally found out. Really appreciate the manufacturer's decision on disclosing the actual BS(no pun intended) of their lines, and the results from the tests done by individuals on We...

Re: Is it true that US and Japanese line manufacturers have different lb rating system

Problem is that few manufacturers are labeling their braids' diameter accurately. The only way left for you is to measure it yourself with vernier calipers, which ALSO can be off because a braid's cross-section isn't hard and uniform like a nylon's or fluoro's. I am curious how you know that very f...

Re: Is it true that US and Japanese line manufacturers have different lb rating system

Yes..... Europe and Asia choose their line by diameter. They are smarter than us. Physics tells us that most of the line properties are in the diameter. U.S. customers go by pound test.... so in America, all a manufacturer has to do is put 16lb. test line in an 8lb. box to lay claim to the stronges...

Re: Stiffest Braided Line?

I'm looking for a stiff braided line to put on my baitcaster with around a .009 inch diameter. Hoping the stiffness will help with casting and less digging. I spooled up some Cortland Masterbraid but have yet to fish it on the water. I saw a Youtube review on the Berkley Trilene braid and the revie...

Re: Is it true that US and Japanese line manufacturers have different lb rating system

I remember a little blurb in an issue of In Fisherman probably 10-12 years ago. A guy caught a fish on 6lb Fireline he thought might qualify as a line class record. So he sent the documentation on the fish and a sample of his line to the IGFA to try to get his record certified. When the IGFA got ba...

Re: Is it true that US and Japanese line manufacturers have different lb rating system

I'm very pissed atm because I can't figure out what my Spiderwire Stealth's true breaking strain is. I have spools of 6lb and 10lb, and I swear the 6lb Stealth's diameter is at least as large as a 20lb average braid.

Re: Daiwa SV103 vs Zillion SV TW

I know an angler who used to throw 2" soft plastics on 1/16oz jig heads with a light-action BFS rod, and his average distance was about 57ft. Very windy condition, and not a single backlash.
TWS+SV seems to work very well.

Re: Abu spinning worth a look?

I suggest you stick to the Shimano which is your safest bet. With that being said, I swear I will get my hand on the JDM Revo ALX spinning reel one day. It's by far the sexiest spinning reel I've ever seen, second only to the Daiwa Saltiga Expedition.

Re: Stiffest Braided Line?

I guess that my real question is basically what is the tightest wound braided line, since stiffness is determined by how tight the weave is. Not sure if I agree with your premise. How would one even go about testing for weave tightness? Imo no 8 carrier braid is going to be "stiffer" than 4 carrier...

Re: How well does braided line cast on a baitcaster?

I am enjoying and learning a lot from your discussion and I really appreciate it but now you guys are wandering a bit off the topic! =D> To the braid users, I'd very much like to know the frequency of backlashes when going straight fluoro vs braid+leader, with the leader about 5ft long. Has your FG...
