Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

another field test of DIY SPOON fit on Zillion SV TW https://youtu.be/Ca6ecwFAKUo Good stuff. I would probably already own a similar setup, not sure about a rod though. Never really looked into it or took it far enough to find out where to order one, then I always back out at the end. Every year I ...

Re: Thoughts on Daiwa JDM Zillion TW 1516

The 7.3 is a faster 7.3 because of the big spool, I think it recovers over 32 inches per turn. The 9.1 recovers like 40.1 or something, outrageous amount. I mentioned on another recent post, I love my 9.1 (mainly for the purple) but tend to use 1/2 or less on it. It is very capable like mentioned be...

Re: Handle for SV105

Did you upgrade that drag star too? I wanna put my Zillion SV's handle on my SV105 and give the Zillion SV a 100mm Zillion TWS one. So is that the stock drag star??? It is not the stock drag star. I used a Zaion drag star from the Tatula Type R. I need to make a HUGE tackle trap parts order. Need 3...

Re: Chronarch MGL line pawl

I really wish I could find out the ratio of good versus bad experiences with this reel. I still wanna try one bad, but making 25k a year before school is complete I am not sure I can risk it... I'd like to give you a couple of words of advice. Of course, it's worth exactly what you're going to pay ...

Re: Cranking rod or M or MH fast rod for throwing Topwater

I use the Ike Series 6'4" jerkbait special rod. It has a moderate action but is stiffer than your standard crankbait rod. I can throw a spook a mile with it. See I feel that the Ike Delay rods are VERY soft. The 6'4" you mentioned like bends in half with minimal pressure. No way I would p...

Re: Handle for SV105

The Tackle Trap is a great site if you want to upgrade handles. I upgraded my Alphas SV with a 90mm Zillion TWS handle. Looks very OEM and I feel the black on it matches the body better than the gunmetal colored stock handle. http://i.imgur.com/Bygw9Pp.jpg Did you upgrade that drag star too? I wann...

Re: Curado K - multi piece frame

This is weird, I searched Curado K, looking for this post and the one about the plastic levelwind... The one concerning the levelwind says I am not allowed to view it, and I also feel like a first look showing the parts has been removed from the main site. I got to arguing on youtube and was hoping...

Re: Chronarch MGL line pawl

Pegasus, I don't think it is just you who has had issues. I am always interested in the $300 range offerings from both Daiwa and Shimano, that being said, I have had some great PM's about good experiences with the new Chronarch MGL's. On the other hand, I have seen multiple bad reports on the reel t...

Re: Looking for a sub 250 USD reel for frogging and pitching

Thanks all, I am wondering if the SV103 is salt proof? I am also eying on the Daiwa Zillion HD that can be had for 250USD online. My applications are: * Line: Braid 30 - 65 # * Lures: frogs 1/4 - 1/2 oz, 3/4 buzzbaits, 1.5 oz weighted plastics for flipping, up to 1oz jigs Thanks all. I am not a fai...

Re: Looking for a sub 250 USD reel for frogging and pitching

Daiwa SV103 by far, especially while they are on sale. Going to be the strongest you mentioned due to the aluminum side plate and aluminum frame. For the others: BB1PRO = nice reel, not nearly as refined as my Daiwa's, sold mine for money to put toward my second (and now third pissibly) Zillion SV T...

Re: Chronarch MGL line pawl

Is it possible that the lack of a more rigid metal/aluminum frame has to do with the rough/geary feelings reported??? Once again, EVERY Chronarch MGL I have touched felt extremely smooth and tight, but I see multiple reports telling else wise. I am a believer in composite/carbon frames, understandin...

Re: Chronarch MGL vs Zillion SV TW

Order a Met. ;) Nah for real though. If you are curious as to what Shimano has to offer, why not go for the Met vs "settling" for the Chronarch? You get a magnesium frame for, what..maybe $20-$30 more!? ($294 w/free shipping on Digitaka) I honestly think your getting good advice... If you...

Re: Daiwa ICAST 2017 (2018 products)

In case anyone is wondering, I received an email from Daiwa today: Hi Alex, From the new LT line of reels, only the Ballistic LT and Tatula LT have line roller bearings. Daiwa Corporation Casey Yoern, CSR Customer Service I'll probably buy one of each to check them out. Anyone know the diff between...
