Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL

18 bearings, quick change gear ratios, ambidextrous reeling, 2 gram spool that can hold either 40 yards of 5# or 200 yards of 20 with the push of a button, weighs less than 4 ounces with 40# of max drag and fits into a small or extra large hand. Aside of all joking, have you seen those cheap-o inte...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

I wonder why they don't make more super ultra light BFS spools from material other than aluminum... seems like with that light of line that plastic or carbon fiber composed spools could be fine.

As long as you are using light drag and the tolerances work any decent strong material should work...

Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL

Perfect, same as Chronarch MGL, or same as Curado K +2 knob bearings. Just couldn't figure out why all US sites had them listed as 7+1.

Re: New 2018 Stella FJ and Bantam MGL

Yes but like with any reel used in saltwater it must be maintained properly. So excited to see this reel, been counting down days and I'm not even sure what I'm counting down to... saw a schematic on youtube (JDM) and from what it looked like the reel had 2 bearings on the main shaft (with a roller...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

You can convert the PE to braid # and then use that to ball park the amount of line based on diameter it will hold. Judging by the pics the CT deep DIY "Long Cast" spool looks to be similar in depth to a Tatula CT SV spool so I would think it would hold useable amounts of #10 and #12 non ...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

Had to rehash this amazing thread, thinking of a cheap Tatula CT-Type R with the Ali deeper DIY spool. So many people mentioned the BFS cheap spools, but did anyone try the deeper version? If not, how much 10-12 fluorocarbon would the super shallow one hold, I am having trouble converting YGK number...

Re: What new baits will you be tying on this year ?

Also been using my version of a "Tiny Ika", take a Hula Grub's tails off and rig the body with skirting pointed rear on a #1 or 1/0 and pitch with a 1/8 Tungsten into brush. It's like a tiny tube but a little more slender. I have done this and it works pretty well, I never settled on a go...

Re: Daiwa Alphas sv105 spool upgrade

I got the white inductor ramp to prevent sticking (never had it stick) and was told the next step should also be BFS style bearings... I use my 105 on a ML rod for drop shot and finesse, TT said it should really help with 3/16 and under.

Re: What new baits will you be tying on this year ?

I'm gonna run a Picasso JR A-rig with some small swimbaits rigged weedless. Watched a guy on the river kill it last year with a weedless A-rig, little hooks but light drag (still strong line) works well. Also been using my version of a "Tiny Ika", take a Hula Grub's tails off and rig the b...

Re: Metanium vs Chronarch

I love my Metanium 13 and MGL. My 13 had a bit of buzz until I ordered curado gears, not its smooth. My MGL is came super smooth and I run shimano drag grease in all my reels. That's what I ended up with, Shimano star drag grease... Doesn't just work for Shimano's though, my Zillion TWS 9.1 felt RO...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

Interesting videos, could almost see the schematic on the one you posted. I want to know about that dang bearing so bad. Just really, really hope it has 2 on the main shaft but no idea why that bothers me so bad.

Re: Metanium vs Chronarch

The Tackle tour review on the Met. MGL was incomplete and showed many details of the Chronarch not the Metanium they were testing... The lower gear ratio Chronarchs I have seen all had the shorter handle? knob bearings are one place I notice a difference, the levelwind I did not notice when I upgra...

Re: Steel SV TW vs Aldebaran 50 HG for a MBR783c?

I gotta stop reading TT; https://i.imgur.com/MRwxrFim.jpg I decided to get the Steez but for some reason threw a lowball bid on a NIB Aldebaran, fully expecting to get sniped at the last second. But nope, I won it and got the reel for $250. I only have an hour or so on each, the Alde feels like it ...

Re: Metanium vs Chronarch

Metanium 6.2 has 84 mm handle...one bushing at the levelwind Chronarch 6.2 has 90 mm handle...no bushing at the levelwind These are from tackletour reviews and Shimano official JDM site. One last detail...the dial on the Chr clicks and the Metanium doesnt. So weird that the expensive reel has more ...
