Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread

So is the pinion aluminum too??? I know brass/aluminum is still better than aluminum/aluminum though (IMO). Gonna have to take another look at the JDM Metaniums now, and I figure tackletrap should soon have the Curado K gears if this swap is reliable.

Re: What are you using to clean, lube, grease your reels?

I like TSI 321 for spool bearings, CorrosionX grease for internals, and CorrosionX spray for my anti reverse bearing. I try to keep it simple and cheap when making recommendations on cleaning supplies. Wipe off the excess grease on internal parts with a paper towel. Brake parts cleaner works great ...

Re: Crankbait reel

I have 2 SV105SH's in my line up that I use for jerkabits and weightless senkos. Would you guys pick the Alphas SV105 over the Zillion SV TW for the task at hand? I'm very partial to my 105, so yes, I would personally. And I have 2 Zillion SV TW reels myself. I also have 2 Zillion SV TW reels that ...

Re: Crankbait/ChatterBait Rod /w conquest 100

Way out of my price range, but I have always heard TOO soft of a rod for chatterbaits/spinnerbaits can lead to rage (loosing fish). The graphite or blended rods always run multipurpose better for me.

PS I don't think gold and orange look to bad together though...

Re: Have you guys ever had this problem with shimano reels?

A few days ago at Academy I felt one (and another sporting good store), showed one of the fishing section guys, and he took a key out of his pocket and put mega torque on it, freed up instantly, kind of clawed up the plastic a tiny bit, but oh well. I would have probably went more gentle, but either...

Re: Any info on abu Garcia Revo alx?

No I fish the White River close to Batesville AR. Some of the tightest (hard) finesse fishing ever, overrun with aggressive little smallmouth, but there are some MONSTERS in there. Also monster stripers below dams, really good fishing, just takes a while to figure it out. Problem with our system is...

Re: Any info on abu Garcia Revo alx?

I'm just guessing, but I would think the gen4 uses basically the same frame as the new lews & bps reels. I have the carbonlite 2.0 on my plastics rod and the alx on my jig rod, and while there is a difference in size it's not a lot. I do prefer the Abu, as it has a flat front piece on top of th...

Re: Any info on abu Garcia Revo alx?

Im pretty sure all the Gen4 Abus utilize the same geometry. And they all have an aluminum frame. I think the ALX, MGX2, and MGXtreme2 share that tiny little bitty frame with the ALX's being aluminum construction. I think the new Gen 4 S, SX, STX, Premier, Winch, Inshore, and cheaper Revo X share a ...

Re: Any info on abu Garcia Revo alx?

You may be able to convert the reel to different braking system. One of perks, perhaps the only, to OEM reels are they are often different braking systems used in a common platform alowing parts to be swaped. I'm converting a gen 3 IB7 to externally adjustable centrifugal IVCB from Doyo dual brake....

Re: UL/L Spinning Combo

I'm thinking of moving my Revo STX20 to a Light powered rod and buying a new Stradic Ci4+ FB 2500 for my dropshot rod. Been checking out the Lew's Crappie series (little cheap for my taste, $40ish) but they list as ML rods with a moderate taper, even though they feel about the same as a 5'6"L f...

Re: Any info on abu Garcia Revo alx?

I love my ALX and have used it on the inshore flats and farm ponds and haven't had a problem. Thrown everything from 1/8 ounce Texas rigs to 1 ounce glide baits. Handled an ALX again today at Academy... They feel pretty good. I REALLY REALLY wish Abu would have used that aluminum frame with the new...

Re: SV Spool Paranoia

For an SS SV, that Ray's inductor is much lighter and thinner, but the new blocks don't offer as much range of motion. Still, to me it's like a completely different caster. Definitely faster start up, and you can get better distance, but at the expense of having a rowdier spool. I like it better, e...

Re: Curado K brake dial stuck

Will loosening the screw that secures the dial (inside of the reel) help this issue??? I finally got to hold one today at Academy and it seemed overly tight, but after turning back to the "1" setting it freed up and could move from "1" to "6" much easier.
