Re: 19 Antares A weight

Not 100% sure, but I know there are some shared Conquest A parts in there. Most of those parts are heavy, say brass gears, so that fractionally adds some more. I want to say I saw a disassembly of an Antares back when they came out and dude commented on how thick the side plates were or something.

Re: 21 Calcutta Conquest 100HG pinion replacement

I sure hope that is a mistake. Especially because the 24 Shallow Edition shares the same pinion. I think the Antares uses the same main and pinion also. same main, different pinion for the antares which is pretty common in shimano reels. for example the 2012 antares maingear has been used in the 20...

Re: Daiwa Tatula MQ LT.

The Zinc gearing is a shame. Seriously, the supposed lesser companies don't even do that. I wanted to get one of the Gekka Bijin spinning reels, but if they share the same zinc gear I am out. This is even after I had a Stradic FM have issues. I would rather have a slight tick sound along with a smoo...

Pretty sure you got a fish in that bag. My version would be a bream in a Wal-Mart bag.

Re: New pixy

I was hoping to see something new. Maybe an entirely new frame with no T-wing. Thing is though, T-wing is kind of Daiwa's feature now, and I am not sure frames will get much smaller than the new Alphas style reels. This is one of the reasons I think we see such small changes with new generations, sc...

Re: Things You Have NEVER Tried

I'd gone for a long time without trying a Carolina rig, then used it like crazy for like 2 years with great luck. This is one of my go-to techniques. I even use them up shallow with a short leader, sort of a stroker rig. The zoom lizard is my all-time favorite soft plastic on a c-rig. I fish dropsh...

Haven't really gotten into the true magnum crankbaits. I have used the big squarebills though, so maybe that counts?

Re: Things You Have NEVER Tried

I also still have not fished a "blade" bait, like the solid metal little lipless crank lures. Only recently did I get a couple of suspending rattle trap lures (Ima and 6th Sense). Not sure how every company doesn't offer one of those. This one is a little off topic, but I know nothing about bobber f...

Things You Have NEVER Tried

Just was thinking, we have a ton of people on here who have tried and done almost all of it. For me, I have enjoyed fishing for about 12 years now, and on and off earlier through my life. That being said, there is still plenty of equipment I have never tried. For example: I have never used or even c...

Re: Super Shallow Cranks

The SPRO Baby Fat John 50 and Fat John 60 both work for me, but to ensure I get less depth with them or others, I use 15lb fluorocarbon. Not sure how bad the even larger diameters affect action, but you can supposedly shallow up cranks a decent bit by moving up to way thicker diameters.

Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.

To me the Zillions are great reels, but the Alphas nose piece that is metal and part of the frame just feels more solid. It is nice to have in winter and doesnt get so cold, but it feels cheap. Just an odd design choice because the Zillions are very rigid and have metal under that piece, so why not ...

Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.

Looks good! Wonder if the colors with mismatch finishes like the TW HD does. It has the shiny black metal side plates/frame, then a more matte black on that plastic cover. That is still the only dislike I have about the new Zillions...
