Re: Zillion SV spools compatible with Zillion TWS Reels?

So there are spacers that allow a Zillion TWS to use the 1016 spool? I am lost, figured those two were not compatible without major modifications... If those parts do exist, that would be interesting. I know already all of the reels that ARE 1016 compatible, just don't know what Daiwa reels could be...

Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP 703C

This is a good question, I have always wondered about the Dobyns MH versus M. The MH feels more like the stout Medium powered rods I have gotten used to, but my local retailer doesn't carry a single Medium powered casting rod (Dobyns). I just got worried that if the MH can basically handle semi-fine...

Re: Zillion SV spools compatible with Zillion TWS Reels?

I really enjoy the DIY spool in the Zillion TWS too. They are still some of my strongest, sturdiest reels I own, even though I have better and more expensive reels now I really enjoy the Zillion TWS. Need to get a 2nd DIY spool for my 7.3. Only issue I had with that spool is noise and I still haven'...

Re: Concept Z anti-reverse bushing?

So still it is technically a no BALL bearing reel. I figured it always had the standard style AR bearing, unless it had a very precise dog tooth system, but that would still offer slight back play. Handled another one of these reels not long ago, felt pretty smooth and tighter tolerances than I orig...

Re: Lews

LOSE which is more appropriate just are cheep reels. I bought a LOSE PP1pro a Tatula and ChronarchCI4 at the same time. It took only hours til the LOSE knobs started to fall apart. Then it started making noise on cast. Then levelwind nearly falling off lead me to return the cheep thing. My tat and ...

Re: Lews

You will hear people on here refer to Lew's reels as Doyo variants, meaning a major manufacturer in Korea makes Lew's, Abu Garcia, BassPro, and a few others. The companies send what they want with maybe a little research and development thrown in and get reels made with their logo on them. That's wh...

Re: Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?

Those are some of the most beautiful reels, I really hate that only low profiles lead the market. Would be awesome to see some more $200-$350 round reels out there. Like a Zillion class Ryoga with a cast aluminum frame, Zaion sideplates, regular gears, etc. Wouldn't make sense though to cut the mark...

Re: Cranking Reel

There were some Zillion TWS reels (older big one) going for under $160 new not long ago, still regret not getting a 6.3 or 5.5. The 6.3 is as fast as some 7 gear ratios because of the spool size, and the 5.5 would be almost a perfect mix of slow/fast and have enough power. I mentioned this reel earl...

Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

That is why I definitely didn't hate on the Met-MGL. Just wanted to let them know that some have brought forward that issue as a possible negative. Even if it were to happen, the Curado K brass gears work. If the JDM sites keep the Metanium prices good that might be my next reel if nothing else come...

Re: Let's talk UL crankbaits ...

It seems like the pool of sub 2" traditional shaped squarebill cranks is slowly shrinking. As far as high end stuff goes, 0.5 Lucky Crafts seem to have pretty much vanished. Not too many manufacturers making downsize squarebills at all it seems. SK has the Bitsy Minnow, which if you get a good...

Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

I picked up a couple rods and have yet to purchase reels dedicated for them. I grabbed a glx 894 and a glx 852. I paired them with chronarch mgl’s which I love these reels and was going pick up 2 more to throw on the rods I took these reels off (just couldn’t wait to get the reels as I wanted to fi...

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's

What is another decent alternative drag star for the SV105/Alphas SV??? I know T-Trap sells an SV103 drag star that looks good, costs almost $30 though. I am sick for not ordering a few of the Zaion drag stars when they were still available (right hand), would have loved to have one for the SV105 an...

Re: Spinning rod - new Tatula or Phenix Feather

Just remember in that review that Cal mentioned Phenix overrated that rod's power. Generally that means they rate a bit different across the board. So that means a Phenix feather that rates almost identical to the Tatula line could actually be much softer or slower depending on exactly which model y...
