Re: Is the Zillion SV TWS noisy like Tatulas?

I own 2 Zillion SV TW reels, both are VERY quiet, I would even guess I can hear my Chronarch MGL just a TINY bit more... I fish with a friend who has an arsenal of Tatula's, old, CT, CT-R, SV, etc. One or two were a bit geary, but after maintenance (done by a shop, I figure they just added grease) t...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

How have those Aldebaran's held up??? Been considering one of them versus a Metanium MGL JDM, just not as much feedback as I expected on the Aldebaran. The Aldebaran has held up great. I do a basic oil and outer cleaning each season. Nothing internal. We fished them hard pitching plastics and winch...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

I really like the 6'10 medium adrena too. The tip is perfect and its so light for one hand slinging. I agree i use em as twitching rods one for jerk bait's the other for small spook style topwater (Dog-X Speed Slide). Handle smallies, largemouth, treble hooks and both mono/fluoro lines well. I'm in...

Re: Shallow spool?

That's a pretty good idea. My Lew's BB1PRO had a hole to make a knot catch where it couldn't slip (baitcaster though). For a spinning reel I bet this would work perfect, might take a little practice to get right but should be perfect.

Re: Bantam1, can we get a flipping reel please?

I would be very interested in an updated 50/70 size. Would like to see an aluminum framed, MGL spooled, micro geared, 50/70 size reel. Actually wouldn't even care if it was a composite frame like the Chronarch MGL, still very impressed with my first Shimano, just wish I could somehow hybridize the ...

Re: Swimbait reel

Can the bushing on the spool be replaced with a bearing? Just a question, I have no use for a reel this size right now, but was interested to know.

Re: Okuma Cal's Grease

I am tempted to just order the Shimano grease and use it on my Daiwa's. I am still confused as to why TW sells "Cal's grease" but it is made by Okuma. I need some handles and other add on parts so I will be going TackleTrap regardless.

Re: Real Question

I love the wider spools and lower gear ratio for all my cranking with the occasional exception of square bills. I have four gen 1 winches that I'm needing to replace. They have held up pretty well through the years but they are about worn out. I seen the new gen 4's came out but I haven't heard muc...

Re: Real Question

Yes, it is a definite new trend. I wish I had picked up a 5.5 Zillion TWS when they were blow out cheap (like $125) because the had such a big wide spool the IPT was like 24" which is still fast enough for me to fish spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. On the other hand, reels are all so well built ...

Re: SV Spool Paranoia

The Ray’s lower inductor block is not exactly like the newly designed ones from Daiwa. Best thing to do is contact Spankey at Tackle Trap and get the oem Daiwa part. I’ve done a bunch of swapping with Inductors, springs, and lower blocks just to see what different results I get. As mentioned the ran...

Re: Okuma Cal's Grease

I've used cals for years. Never once used it on gearing. I use krytox 227 and corrosion x, yamalube is great too K sounds good. I have been using reel butter and quantum hot sauce oil for a while, they clean reels fine and prevent damage/maintain feel, but I would like a lighter oil and better grea...
