Re: What is your prefered reel for jerkbaits
I used an old td-z last year and thought it was great. The lower gear ratio was no problem.

Re: TD-Z Owners Guild
I got this in the mail today and I love it. I only wish It had higher speed gearing and it’d probably be my favorite reel. Picked it up from eBay $72.50 and it came with the Megabass knobs.

Yes. I use the Sterilite bins from Walmart. I keep them organized on book shelving.

Shimano IXR spinning reel for shad raps. 4.1:1 gear ratio, rear drag, and quick fire. They’re like $12.

Wave Worms Platypus, an awesome creature bait with an otter tail. The Gambler Ugly Otter is similar, but I’ve caught way more largemouth and bigger largemouth on the Platypus.
Re: Ice rods
They make some sort of rubber band to attach the reels. I use a Fenwick for crappie, idk the specifications, it’s short and med-light. I use the same rod for small trout. I think the longer the rod and the lighter the action, the better your hook to land ratio will be, but if the rod is longer you s...
Re: Ice rods
St Croix are the only ones I know of. The 13 Fishing ice gear seems like junk imo. Ice fishing stuff is ridiculously overpriced. I would have one custom built, you’d probably save money and end up with a better rod.

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto
I found this article saying that the Gene Larew patent expired and think the article is from 2013, so that answers a couple of my questions. I’m assuming Yamamoto now has the patent since that article shared earlier in this thread said he had the patent.

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto
I wonder why Larew doesn’t have a salt senko then. Does Larew even have any salt impregnated baits besides the old school craw? I also wonder why no big manufacturers use the silica? Maybe the patent would get them anyways.

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto
I guess it’s valid to point out that different manufacturers want alternatives instead of make an identical copy and you guys are right, it does answer part of my question. I just don’t feel like it’s the full answer. Maybe its the answer to why yum doesn’t use salt. I would think there are ways aro...

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto
I throw senkos weightless wacky hooked and dingers dont work for me wacky style without a weighted hook, which gives it a different action. I catch lots of fish on one senko with an o-ring. You didn’t really address any of the questions in my post. I know they tear up quicker, pretty sure everyone ...

How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto
The main thing that sets Yamamoto apart from the imitators, imo, is their salt content. Is salt that expensive? Does it cause issues when mass producing plastics? Senkos knockoffs are made by just about all their competitors in the soft plastic market, yet I haven’t found any other senko style plast...
