Just put this handle on the reel... dual bearing knob spins very freely, makes the reel little nicer to work.
That's a 30mm knob, I could have gone with the 35mm.

Does anyone put wax on their reels?
I have put wax on my rods, but I recently got a Stella FI and was looking at the metallic finish on that reel which is really nice. So I'm thinking...why not wax the rest of the reel as long as I have it out to seal the spool to protect that from corrosion. I have both Turtle Was Ice at home and Zai...

Re: Dollar/yen exchange rate
You might want to keep an eye on the USD vs the Australian dollar. The USD is strong right now $1 USD = $1.34 AUD and the sellers I bought from there on the big auction site use the same 3-4 day International express shipping. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/em369/Yen/AUD%20040817_zpsvig5ithn...

Re: Foul Weather Gear - Simms, Gill, Cabelas Guidewear or what?
I have a mix of foul weather gear. Just depends on the situation. Simms, Patagonia and Arc'teryx. Typically Arc'teryx has the most forward designs and push the envelope for design and use of Gore-Tex fabrics and insulation. Their jackets typically use very narrow tape on their seams and are great mo...

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Right handed
Reel in left hand. Rod in right.
For spinning, bait cast, and fly fishing.
Strange that I can't do anything else that requires coordination with my left hand worth a darn.......

Re: Looking for recommendations for a light saltwater/freshwater reel
Hmm..light saltwater and finesse fish for bass Low end: Daiwa SS1300, been around forever and still trustworthy if you can stand the lack of instant auto reverse, casts really nicely because of the tapered spool, dependable line wrap on the spool. This reel and the team Daiwa reels were bread and bu...

Re: Anyone here from Australia
Just read that Shimano Australia gives you a 10 year warranty on all fishing reels. "In Australia, Shimano Australia Fishing Pty. Ltd and in New Zealand, Shimano New Zealand Limited provide a TEN YEAR WARRANTY on all Shimano fishing reels imported by those two companies into their respective countri...

Re: Anyone here from Australia
Just bought a reel from Otto's Tackle World. Once it was shipped AusPost Express Int'l Post, it was here in 3 days to CA. Just a heads up that the AUS/USD strongly favors the USD. Otto's pricing on the big US auction site is not as aggressive as some of the JDM sellers but they do put things on sale...

Re: outdated legendary tackle
Thought I'd second this Scorpion 1000/1001 that was already mentioned. Deserving because it was one of the reels that started the official JDM craze. The Elvis of fishing reels. \:D/ Better reels out there now but it was one sweet reel at the time. I bought two from an outfit called Profishing Netwo...

USD/Yen has been stuck in a sideways trading range since mid January after pulling back from year end election runup high around 118. Trying to breakout this week........

Re: Buying JDM reels...PayPal or CC?
Paypal's currency conversion rate is 2.5%.
Take the current Dollar to Yen trade rate and multiply that by .975 and that should equal what Paypal's conversion rate is on their calculator when making a purchase.

Re: Buying JDM reels...PayPal or CC?
One of the previous posts recommends checking with your CC company about a foreign transaction fee. That is good advice. I called on both my VISA accounts and an AMEX account and they all charged a FTF higher than Paypal's 2.5% spread from the current dollar to yen exchange rate. One thing about Pay...
