Re: Do you keep back up reel

My backup reels are reels that have been “retired”. I keep the best ones Cleaned, lubed and spooled, ready to go if needed.

Re: Heavy hard bait rod

If you can source them locally, check out the Megabass Destroyer USA Daemos or the Orochi XX Diablo Spec-R. The Daemos is spec’d a little heavier than the Diablo, and has a stiff tip good for chatterbaits and working big topwaters. Those large topwaters usually come with bigger heavier trebles, so t...

Re: Sunline Asegai low price. Is this legit

Don’t know if it’s legit or not. TW had one of their 1-day specials last spring, 600yd spools for about $54 but that’s the lowest I have ever seen it.

Re: Chronarch CI4+ Chronarch MGL spool swap?

The OG CI4+ braking was both noisy and inconsistent. Braking working fine one minute, then back lashing every cast 2 minutes later. Adjustment range was poor, changed a lot between 1 and 2.5, little change if any between 3 & 6. The upgraded spool & brakes fixed everything. For some reason, the Chron...

Re: Chronarch CI4+ Chronarch MGL spool swap?

I have changed the original side plate assembly’s on both my Chronarch CI4+ reels to the MGL sideplate assembly’s. The side plates themselves are a different color, but will swap perfectly. I can use either the Chronarch G or MGL spools. Expensive, bit a worthwhile conversion in my view. The G spool...

I have used Avail spools for Abu 2nd gen STX and Premier, Abu Amb 4601, and Shimano Curado in the salt and I have not had any issues.
Excellent! Thank you for your response.

Are Avail spools saltwater OK?

How well do Avail’s “extra super duraluminin” spools stand up to saltwater use? Corrosion issues?

Re: NRX 873cc

It’s my 3/8 and 1/2oz jig rod, also 5/16 and 3/8oz t-rigs, bigger Keitechs. It is tip-heavy with a 13 Met, feels much better with a rubber chair leg cover on the butt. 30lb Sunline XP Asegai to 20lb Seaguar Blue Label bank fishing on Lanier’s rocky bottom.

Re: Sunline Siglon PEx8 braid

I have been using their Xplasma Asegai in 16, 18, and 30lb for over a year now. Completely happy with it. Good strength for its diameter, works well with an Albright leader knot, does not fray, holds its color well. IIRC it is woven from the Izanas fibers, but it’s not anything like the Siglon as de...

Re: G. Loomis rods

I did not buy my Loomis rods because they were pretty. For me, it’s all about the performance. And my NRX’s do perform! For that matter, so do my Megabass moving bait rods.

Re: tsi 321

Been using 321 for over a year now, strictly on steel spool bearings, not hybrid ceramics. Works well enough and lasts long enough that I am down to using ceramics in only one reel. Still using grease on my levelwinds/pawls. I run spool bearings with one shield removed, so I clean them and reapply 3...

Sunline Xplasma Asegai is the best line I have ever used in that regard regardless of line type. Almost zero water absorption.

Re: Medium Heavy Spinning Rods

That’s my reason for replacing the recoils. I never have leader knot hang ups with my NRX casting rods but that one BSR has given me fits! But I love the blank so to me it’s worth the expense.
