Re: The skinny in the Otomat

How does the tip and backbone of the Otomat compare to the OG XX Flat Side Special?

Re: Limp Braid that doesn't absorb water

Sunline Xplasma Asegai is the best line I have ever used in that regard regardless of line type. Almost zero water absorption.

Re: Medium Heavy Spinning Rods

That’s my reason for replacing the recoils. I never have leader knot hang ups with my NRX casting rods but that one BSR has given me fits! But I love the blank so to me it’s worth the expense.

Re: Medium Heavy Spinning Rods

If you can find one, the old Loomis BSR852 will be perfect. It was originally designated as a “Senko” rod and has a lot more power than the current Loomis 2-power offerings. Thinking about replacing the recoils with SIC’s and using mine for Inshore.

Re: One ten special

How well does the 110 Special handle the Pointer 78’s? They are at the bottom end of the rod’s rating.

Re: Megabass Destroyer Daemos

Correction, I just checked the weights in my saltwater tackle bag, turns out they are 3/4oz. So it’s 3/4oz plus bait. I have used the identically rated Diablo Spec-R and my GLX 893C JWR in that situation with those weights, no problems. Above the upper limit on the 893C, but it handled it just fine.

Megabass Destroyer Daemos

How well does the Daemos handle casting weight near the top of it’s range? I plan to use it in freshwater for bladed baits, large spooks and 1oz Plopper 110s. Inshore, it will be fished with up to 1oz weights + shrimp or gulp in inlets with strong current. This rod will replace an OG Orochi XX Diabl...

Re: GLX reel seats

Comparing the GLX seats to the NRX seats using Mets, the GLX trigger in addition to being thicker is also positioned slightly forward with respect to the reel. I fish with 2 fingers above the trigger and do not notice my fingers being cramped with either rod unless it’s cold and I’m wearing gloves. ...

Re: 2009 Shimano Aldebaran AR roller bearing

I used BNT3910 when I rebuilt my Core 51 last year. I think the 3910 is the ARB version of this bearing. It is shown on the Core 100MG7 schematic.

Re: Top Water rod for 1ozers

My OG Megabass XX Diablo works very well. Rated up to 1oz, not too fast for braid, and not too long.

Re: Line recommendation for topwater/jerkbait combo

13lb Armilo for fall and early spring jerkbaits. Switch to 15lb Armilo starting with the spawn for 1.5 squarebills and thru the summer for smaller topwaters. For larger topwaters on a more powerful rod, I use 30lb braid to CXX leader.

Fast if using a medium power rod. Mod-fast if using a medium heavy.
