JDM rod-which reel to buy?

I recently got a JDM spinning rod, a Pro Marine Salty Rugger Mebaru 76L, rated for 2-5 lb line. It's a great rod to use because it has that very sensitive, tiny diameter solid graphite tip of 15 inches that shows the lightest bite. I want to put a quality spinning reel on it that will balance it out...

Reel recommended for JDM rod

I recently got a JDM spinning rod, a Pro Marine Salty Rugger Mebaru 76L, rated for 2-5 lb line. I want to put a spinning reel on it that will balance it out. I fish 2 lb test for large Bluegill and Redear Sunfish. Someone recommended a Quantum Smoke size 15. Anyone have any recommendations?

Berkley's "Jester"

Has anyone used the fairly new Berkley Powerbait "Jester"? These great looking creature baits were designed by Mike Iaconelli. I have a bag of these in "South African Special" color. I have done well fishing this on a Jika rig & 3/0 EWG hook, hopping & pausing and shaking it along the bottom rocks a...

Z Man Chatterbait Micro trailer?

I've bought a couple ultralight Chatterbaits Micros 1/8 oz. to try out, but I'm not sure what trailers to put on them. Straight tail, curly tail single, curly tail double, a small swimsuit? I don't want to kill the nice wobble action of the bait. Anyone use these little baits?

Re: Roboworm Ned Worms

Why did you buy 10 bags without knowing what the worms were like beforehand? You should have just bought one bag of each size and tried them out first. Oh well, it's just money..

Popularity of curly-tailed worms

Where did all the curly tail worms go? Why and when did straight tailed worms get so popular? Back in the 1990s the "finesse" style of bass fishing became the hot way to fish for bass here in California. It involved using 4 to 6 lb test monofilament line, an Aberdeen style worm hook rigged Texas sty...

Cotton Cordell Wee Tiny CC Shad

I bought a few lures at a yard sale and one of them is still in the package, new, never used. It's a Cotton Cordell "Wee CC Shad" ultralight deep diving plastic lure with rattles inside. It's a shad color with a long clear bill and looks to have a body length of about 1/34". Are these baits even mad...

Older Daiwa Spinmatic 500T

I'm looking for an older Daiwa Spinmatic 500T ultralight spinning reel (the silver one). I know most of you use the high-end expensive model reels, but this tiny reels a simple one with not a lot of "bells and whistles" and has a super smooth drag and is the light weight I'm looking for that is now ...

Swimming Senko

I just bought a bag of these 4" Yamamoto Swim Senkos in Green Pumpkin at a garage sale. Are they any good? I use regular Senkos quite a bit, but never these with the swim bait tails. I've heard good things about them.

Re: Bill Haddock lures?

So this website must have a bunch of young people as members. If you are over 45 or so, you would remember these great lures. But maybe it was also a west coast or even a Southern California thing. These baits caught so many big bass, especially in the winter months in deep water. Those big 5/8 ounc...

Bill Haddock lures?

Does anyone out there know what happened to this great SoCal lure company? Really popular in the early 1970s. They made some awesome twin spin jigs that featured great jigheads and vinyl skirts. Lots of big bass were caught on Haddock lures. I've still got a few of Bill's Jigs. I think I heard they ...

Re: Pflueger Trion

So over 100 views and only one reply? Wow. Doesn't anyone have anything bad to say about this reel, other than the price for an extra spool is way too much. I went ahead and used this little pearl white reel and so far I like it. Very smooth and quiet. Anti-reverse works good, bail opens and closes ...

Pflueger Trion

What are the pros and cons of the Pflueger Trion TR120X spinning reel? Anyone have one? Is the drag smooth? My neighbor gave one to me because he doesn't like freshwater fishing. (His wife got it for him.) He has it on one of those bright green Berkley "Trout Dough" rods. The rod is kind of a kid's ...

Re: GYCB Fat Ika?

Speaking of my favorite bass bait.. What is the most effective method of fishing these? I almost always pull it up off the bottom, then let it glide back down on a slack line. I let it sit on the bottom for several seconds then give it a couple quick upward lifts again with the rod, then let it swim...

gold rod.. Where did you write about them? Can't find it on this site. I'd like to see what you had to say. And when did these baits come out? I thought just recently..
